The Common Council will meet at the City of Nekoosa Office
Location & Address: Council Chambers, 951 Market St. Nekoosa, WI 54457
Time: Tuesday, June 10th, 2025, at 7:00 P.M.

The agenda is as follows:
1. Call to Order

3. Citizen Comment
During the Citizens Comment period of the agenda, the council welcomes comments from any city
resident on any item not on the agenda. Please know that pursuant to State law the council members
cannot engage in conversation with you but may ask questions. The council may refer the item to staff,
a standing committee, or a future meeting for discussion and possible action. Each person wishing to
speak will have up to 10 minutes to speak, unless more time is granted by the council. If you wish to
speak, we ask that you submit a card to the secretary or clerk providing your name, address, and topic
for discussion.
The council will also take comments from the public on agenda items as called for by the Mayor. Please
note that once the City of Nekoosa Common Council begins discussion on an agenda item no further
comment will be allowed from the public on that issue.

6. Committee Reports
a. Public Works
i. Recommend hiring 2 students, Sofia Gaupp, and Brayden Stevens as summer help for
the Public Works Department. Subject to preemployment drug and alcohol testing.
ii. Recommend purchasing paint and materials needed to refresh and allow for Pickleball
on the tennis courts. Cost of approximately $1,500.00 and work to be completed by the
streets crew.
iii. Recommend sending mailer to city residents to educate citizens of the costs to mitigate
impacts on the system and the benefits of reducing fats, oils, and grease in the sanitary
sewer system by residents.
It is possible that the members of and possibly a quorum of members of other governmental bodies of the municipality
may be in attendance at the above-stated meeting to gather information; no action will be taken by any governmental
body at the above-stated meeting other than the City Common Council.
iv. Recommend DPW Director Rick Schmidt to obtain quotes for replacing/repairing the
asphalt between Shelter 1 and Shelter 2 at Riverside Park and overlaying several areas
along the bike trail.
v. Discussion and an update on Safestep audit and sidewalk repair program for the summer
of 2025. DPW Director Rick Schmidt is compiling a list of top candidates for replacement
and well send cost to repair letters.
vi. Discussion on funding options for road projects on Glendale and Elmwood Lanes.
Recommend having Rick apply for the safe drinking water loan for completing Fairview
Lane project.
vii. Discussion on the purchase of a new van for the Water Utility Department.
b. Property Recreation and Human Affairs
i. Recommend development settlement agreement with S.C. Swiderski.
ii. Discussed submitting an economic development grant with Wood County for 2026.
iii. Recommend purchasing picnic tables not to exceed $6,000.00 for the new Kautzer Park
building.
iv. Discussed purchasing donor plaques for the new Kautzer Park building.
c. Ways & Means
i. Audit Bill List
ii. License applications.
iii. Discussion and possible action on the Baseball Association (June 20th -23rd) and the
Nekoosa Lions (June 27th – 29th) renting out the Kautzer Park Pavillion with the exception
of the rental fee but paying the security deposit.
iv. Discussion and possible action on the created fee schedule for city services.
v. Donations / Seminars / Conferences / Equipment / Meetings

a. Discussion and possible action on the fire department mutual aid agreement.
b. Discussion and approval of resolution to submit the 2024 Compliance Maintenance Annual
Report (CMAR) to the Wisconsin DNR certifying treatment and collection benchmarks.
c. Discussion and possible action on Forward Appraisal contract for the next three years and a
2026 reevaluation.
d. Police Chief Monthly Report
