1. Compensation and Benefits Discussion
Concerns were raised about high salary offers for top positions exceeding federal pay scales,
calling for a new compensation study to ensure pay aligns with responsibilities and budget limits.

Councilmembers emphasized the need for an updated compensation study and an internal audit to
assess salary progression, fairness, and consistency with neighboring municipalities.

job protections, while Councilmember Urbina supported keeping them to remain competitive
with other cities.

Concerns were raised about New Carrollton's salaries exceeding those in comparable cities,
including for the City Manager and HR Director, prompting calls to realign pay with national and
regional standards.

HR answered questions about the current process and timeline for salary progression, including
approval steps and timing changes made by the mayor.
7. Council Oversight and Budget Transparency

the administration to provide info on salary escalations.
