CITY OF NEW MEADOWS PARKS AND RECREATION MEETING MINUTES
HELD MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2025 AT 6:00 P.M.
CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 401 VIRGINIA STREET, NEW MEADOWS
Roll Call / Pledge of Allegiance
Present were Parks Members Joe Sullivan, Jim Slettum, and Angie Mettie.
Mayor Julie Good was present, and opened the meeting at 6:00 P.M.
Discussion Items
Bike-A-Thon
The Bike-A-Thon will be held on September 13th at 10:00am. Committee Member Mettie will
make sure all students at the school have a registration form. Brundage will be available to help
children with safety checks. Because the Harvest Festival is not on the same date, the ride will
start and end at the school. Committee Member Sullivan will get snacks for the halfway point,
and Committee Member Mettie will provide lunch.
Fall Festival
The Fall Festival will occur on September 20th from 10am-4pm. Parks and Rec discussed
possibly setting up games for the day.
Music in the Park
Committee Member Sullivan is looking in to how this might work. Other small towns have
music, and it would be important to learn how they handle licenses or permits.
Trunk or Treat
Trunk or Treat will take place October 31st from 1pm-3pm in the park. Cider and donuts were a
hit last year, and could be provided again this year. It would work well to have a designated
entrance.
Skate Park Grand Opening
The skate park grand opening will take place September 25th. Parks and Rec could hold a
fundraiser of a 50/50 raffle during the event.
Placement of Table in the Park
An area in the park that could use a picnic table is the northeast corner near the sign, and
among the trees. Parks members agreed that this would be a good location for an additional
table. Tables were priced at $1000, and at this time, Parks members felt there weren’t funds for
this table. However, funds might be raised or donated for the table.
Future Meeting Topics
Future agenda items included Trunk-or-Treat, the Christmas event, and music in the park.
