CITY OF NEW MEADOWS PARKS AND RECREATION MEETING MINUTES
HELD MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2025 AT 6:00 P.M.
CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 101 S COMMERCIAL, NEW MEADOWS
Roll Call / Pledge of Allegiance
Present were Parks Members Joe Sullivan, Jim Slettum, and Angie Mettie.
Mayor Julie Good was present, and opened the meeting at 6:01 P.M.
Discussion Items
Music in the Park
A community member is interested in possibly having a bandshell in the park. More
information will follow at a later date.
Trunk or Treat
Trunk or Treat will take place October 31st from 1pm-3pm in the park. It would work well to
have a designated entrance where tickets are available. A gift basket will be provided for the
winner of the best trunk, and a gift card for 2nd place. Small trophies can be handed out by
“trunkers” for favorite costumes. It was noted that donuts were difficult for costume wearers to
hold. Cookies in a bag might be a better idea.
Christmas Event
This community event is set for December 7th. Ideas included having a hay ride from the library
to the tree lighting ceremony, continuing the craft at the library, and having Santa available for
photos. A backdrop could be created for Santa and Mrs. Claus under the ledge so that they
would be out of the weather and the sleigh would not have to be towed in. It was suggested
that the events be moved closer together, as the public tends to leave before the final events
take place.
Future Meeting Topics
Future agenda items included Trunk-or-Treat debrief, the Christmas event, and skate park items.
Action Items
Members reviewed September 2, 2025 meeting minutes and found no changes.
Parks Member Sullivan moved to approve the September 2, 2025 meeting minutes;
Parks Member Slettum seconded the motion. Voice Vote indicated no opposition to the
motion with all members signifying yes. Motion carried.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 6:57 P.M.
