ADJOURNMENT Police and Fire Commission Meeting Minutes Monday, April 14, 2025 at 12:00 PM Council Chambers The Police and Fire Commission of the City of New Richmond was called to order on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 12:09 pm, in the Council Chambers, with the following members present: PRESENT: Kirk Lindell, Shawn Demulling, Andrea Guinn ABSENT: Jon Hailey, Michael Hedges OTHERS Sarah Reese PRESENT: CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL ADOPTION OF AGENDA Shawn Demulling made a motion to adopt the Agenda, Andrea Guinn seconded the motion. Carried unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES MINUTES FROM DATE Andrea Guinn made a motion to approve the minutes from February 6, 2025 Shawn Demulling seconded the motion. Carried unanimously. CLOSED SESSION PER STATE STATUTE 19.85 (1)(C) Closed Session per State Statute § 19.85(1)(c) considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body had jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. Andrea Guinn made a motion to go into Closed Session per State Statute 19.85(1)(c), Shawn Demulling seconded the motion. (3-0 passed unanimously) PROBATIONARY FIRE DEPARTMENT PAID-PER-CALL FIREFIGHTERS Shawn Demulling made a motion Shawn Demulling made a motion to return to Open Session at 12:11 pm, Andrea Guinn seconded the motion. Police and Fire Commission Meeting April 14, 2025 OPEN SESSION - ACTION ON CLOSED SESSION AGENDA Motion to proceed as discuss in closed session introduced by Shawn Demulling, seconded by Andrea Guinn. (3-0 passed unanimously) ADJOURNMENT Andrea Guinn made a motion to adjourn at 12:12 pm, Shawn Demulling seconded the motion. Carried unanimously. Police and Fire Commission Meeting April 14, 2025 MEMO Prepared for: Police and Fire Commission Staff Contact: Sarah Reese Meeting: Police and Fire Commission - 18 Jun 2025 Subject: Election of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council approved board and commission appointments for the new legislative session at their May 12th meeting. The Police and Fire Commission, and other boards and commissions, should elect a chairperson and vice-chairperson for the new legislative session at their next meeting. The chairperson reviews the agenda in advance of the meeting with the designated staff lead, and facilitates the meetings. In the absence of the chairperson, the vice-chairperson fills in and leads the meeting. The chairperson should be determined first, followed by the vice-chairperson. Commission members can nominate someone or nominate themselves. If there are multiple members interested in the same position, voting can be done via paper ballot. If there is only one member interested in a position, the Commission can vote to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot.
