NEW BUSINESS
RIVER TRAVEL MEDIA CONTRACT
Lexi Derrick presented the Marketing Groundwork Proposal from River Travel Media that would run
from October through December 2024. This contract lays down essential groundwork and provides
an overview of the work that River Travel Media will do in order to prepare the marketing campaign to
fully take off in the beginning of 2025. Discussion took place over what photography and videography
would be conducted along with meetings that will be held during this time.
This then led to the review of the Three-Year Proposal Addendum which would occur from 2025
through 2027. The committee was in favor of having a longer term contract to help drive this

campaign but also valued that, if needed, the contract could be broken with the only consequence
being the expense of the website. All other content would be owned by the Tourism Committee.
Additional conversation took place on why the Tourism Committee is the lead for this campaign, what
the pros of having a website are and what will happen to the website after the three year contract.
Also, to help make an informed decision, the Committee reviewed what their average carry forward
funds are year over year.
Pete Vrieze made a motion to recommend approval of the Marketing Groundwork Proposal (2024)
and Three-Year Proposal Addendum (2025 - 2027). Brian Meyer seconded the motion. Carried
unanimously.
COMMUNICATION AND MISCELLANEOUS
The next Tourism Committee meeting will be October 10, 2024.

Meeting: Tourism Committee - 10 Oct 2024
Subject: 2025 River Travel Media Contract Review
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
At the September 11th Tourism Committee meeting, the committee reviewed River Travel Media's
contracts for 2024 (Marketing Groundwork Proposal) and 2025 through 2027 (Three-Year Proposal
Addendum). The committee recommended approval of those two contracts to City Council.
City Council reviewed the contracts and the recommendation from the Tourism Committee at their
September 23rd meeting. City Council approved of both contracts.
With the approval of the Three-Year Proposal Addendum, a specific contract for the upcoming year
will need to be reviewed and approved by both the Tourism Committee and City Council prior to
January 1st. To prepare for this, multiple drafts of a 2025 contract have been under review by staff.
During the October 10th meeting, staff will review the 2025 contracts with the Committee.
RECOMMENDATION:
After reviewing the contracts, the Tourism Committee can move:
Approve: Approve one of the 2025 contracts.
Deny: Deny any or all of the 2025 contracts.
Table: Table the contracts until a future meeting, with direction on specific items.
