Brenda Junkin and other members from Newcomerstown NOW were present. Brenda
explained to mayor and council about efforrts the group has made regarding expanding the
flowers. Recently the group put a poll out asking the community to vote on a village flower-the
purple coneflower was the winner. Resolution 14-25 was present to the council.
Resolution 14-25 to make the purple cone flower as the official flower of the village of
Newcomerstown made by Allen and seconded by Jan.

WATER/WASTE-WATER – JARED MCFARLAND:
Presented the letter of retirement for Mark Brooks, effective July 5th 2025
FIRE-CHIEF PARKS: All the trucks have been serviced. Shane Wells wanted to know if we were
interested in joining the Tusc. HazMat team, they can store some equipment at our station for
spills. There were 9 calls since the last report and 23 mutual aids.
EMERGENCY SERVICES:
TRI COUNTY- Nothing to report
MAYOR: The Memorial Day Ceremony went well with good weather and a good program. Chief
Kennedy and Jordan Miller spoke well, the band sounded good, and we are proud of our Honor
Guard. It is always a great day to honor our veterans. The Mayors’ Association of Tuscarawas
County met at the new dining room of the Main Street Café on Tuesday
NEW BUSINESS:
Resolution 11-25 Amending Pay scale- 1st reading
12-25 Ordinance by the Council to regulate the operation and placement of “Smoke Shops”
within the corporation limits of the village. Motion to accept ordinance made by Jay and
seconded by Susan.

Trap Neuter Release discussion. Council agreed to set aside $2000 for the organization. Motion
