VILLAGE OF NEWCOMERSTOWN ORDINANCE 17-2025 PASSED: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SPEED LIMIT ON NORTH COLLEGE STREET AS VEHICLES ENTER THE VILLAGE OF NEWCOMERSTOWN. WHEREAS, the safety and well-being of the residents of the Village of Newcomerstown is of utmost importance; and WHEREAS, the Council of the Village of Newcomerstown has determined that the reduction of the posted speed limit on North College Street, beginning at the point under the U.S. Route 36 Bridge and continuing south into the downtown area, will promote public safety; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Newcomerstown, State of Ohio: SECTION 1. That the lawful speed limit for vehicles traveling on North College Street, beginning at the point immediately under the U.S. Route 36 Bridge and continuing southbound into the downtown area, shall be reduced to twenty-five (25) miles per hour. SECTION 2. That all traffic control devices, signs, and markings necessary to give notice of this change shall be erected and maintained in compliance with the Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. SECTION 3. That any portion of existing ordinances inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the earliest period allowed by law. PASSED IN COUNCIL this ___ day of __________, 2025.
