CITY OF NEWPORT BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT January 18, 2024 MINUTES A regular meeting of the Newport Board of Adjustment was held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. at the Newport Municipal Complex, 998 Monmouth Street, Newport, Kentucky. In attendance were: Susan Whitehead, Ed Davis, Stephanie Steffen, Nicki Bishop, Planning and Development Director Brian Steffen, Assistant City Manager John Hayden. Absent: City Clerk Tiffany Myers and Steve Mathisen. (Minutes taken by Planning and Development Director Brian Steffen) Training Session was provided by Planning and Development Director Brian Steffen, where the following items were addressed:  Procedure (Rules of Order and Decorum)  Ongoing Cases  Roles and Responsibilities of the board  Case law in other Jurisdictions  Historic Preservation (Do’s and Don’ts)  Open Records  Upcoming changes to the zoning code PUBLIC COMMENTS:  No one from the public approached the podium to speak. ADJOURNMENT OF PLANNING SESSION: There being no further business, following a motion by Ed Davis and seconded by Stephanie Steffen, to adjourn the planning session. Motion carried-so ordered.
