CITY OF NEWPORT, KY SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Thursday, April 12, 2018 MINUTES CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING The special meeting was called to order by Mayor Peluso at 5:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Newport Municipal Building at 998 Monmouth Street. The meeting was opened with a moment for silent invocation and the mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance. In attendance were: Commissioner Beth Fennell, Commissioner Thomas Guidugli, Commissioner Frank Peluso, and Mayor Jerry Peluso. Absent: Commissioner Ken Rechtin, Also in attendance were: City Manager Thomas Fromme, City Attorney Dan Braun, and City Clerk Amy Able. EXECUTIVE SESSION Commissioner Peluso made a motion to enter into an executive session as allowable under KRS 61.810 (1)(g), discussions between a public agency and a representative of a business entity and discussions concerning a specific proposal, if open discussions would jeopardize the siting, retention, expansion, or upgrading of the business. It was noted that no action would follow and a return to regular session was not expected. Second to the motion was offered by Commissioner Fennell. Upon hearing there were no questions, the mayor called for a roll call vote. Commissioner Peluso: Yes Commissioner Guidugli: Yes Commissioner Fennell: Yes Mayor Peluso: Yes Motion carried 4-0. ADJOURNMENT OF SPECIAL MEETING There being no further business on the special meeting agenda, Commissioner Fennell made a motion to adjourn the special meeting and reconvene in executive session. Commissioner Guidugli offered a second to the motion. The Mayor asked for a roll call vote. Commissioner Fennell: Yes Commissioner Peluso: Yes Commissioner Guidugli: Yes Mayor Peluso: Yes Motion carried 4-0. The open session of the meeting adjourned at 5:02 p.m. The Board reconvened in executive session on the second floor of the city building at approximately 5:15 with Commissioners Fennell, Guidugli, and Peluso, Mayor Peluso, Assistant to the City Manager Larisa Sims, and Mr. Braun (who exited at 5:50).
