CITY OF NEWPORT, KY SPECIAL AND CAUCUS MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Monday, April 8, 2019 MINUTES CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING The special meeting was called to order by Mayor Peluso at 7:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Newport Municipal Building at 998 Monmouth Street. In attendance were: Commissioner Beth Fennell, Commissioner Thomas Guidugli, Commissioner Ken Rechtin, Commissioner Frank Peluso, and Mayor Jerry Peluso. Absent: Also in attendance were: City Manager Thomas Fromme, Assistant City Manager Larisa Sims, Assistant City Attorney John Hayden, Police Chief Thomas Collins, Fire Capt. Matthew Pleiman, and City Clerk Amy Able. NEW BUSINESS The city clerk read Order R-2019-024 AN ORDER OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT, KENTUCKY AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING CITY MANAGER FROMME TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MOBILECOM AND MOTOROLLA SOLUTIONS, INC. FOR PURCHASE OF A NEW POLICE RADIO SYSTEM. Commissioner Peluso made a motion to approve; second to the motion was offered by Commissioner Guidugli. Police Lt. Drohan addressed the Board and with details of the proposed purchase and related grant. The cost is $206,000 and the grant covers $91,500. Upon hearing all comments and questions, the mayor called for a roll call vote. Commissioner Peluso: Yes Commissioner Fennell: Yes Mayor Peluso: Yes Commissioner Guidugli: Yes Commissioner Rechtin: Yes Motion carried 5-0. ADJOURNMENT OF SPECIAL MEETING There being no further business, Commissioner Guidugli made a motion to adjourn the special meeting. Commissioner Fennell offered a second to the motion. In attendance were: Commissioner Beth Fennell, Commissioner Thomas Guidugli, Commissioner Ken Rechtin, Commissioner Frank Peluso, and Mayor Jerry Peluso. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / PROPOSED LEGISLATION / CITY BUSINESS There was a presentation on a parking sticker system by Robert Zielinski and Don Ertel of CDO Technologies. PUBLIC FORUM AND COMMENTS Anyone wishing to discuss any City service issue not on the agenda was invited to do so.
