NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING: Pursuant to KRS 132.027, the City of Newport will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The public hearing will be held at 998 Monmouth Street, 1st Floor Multi-Purpose Room, City of Newport, KY, to hear comments from the public regarding the 2023 proposed tax rate. Tax Rate Per $1,000.00 of assessed value Revenue 2022 Tax Rate and 2.74 (Real) $ 2,427,640 Revenue Generated 2.74 (Personal) $ 291,678 2023 Proposed Tax Rate 2.60 (Real) $ 2,580,367 And Expected Revenue 2.74 (Personal) $ 263,248 2023 Compensating Rate 2.50 (Real) $ 2,481,112 And expected Revenue 3.10 (Personal) $ 298,233 Expected Revenue Generated 2.60 $ 0 From New Property The City of Newport proposes a tax rate that will exceed the compensating tax rate by levying a real property tax rate of 2.60 (per $1,000.00 of assessed value) and a personal property tax rate of 2.74 (per $1,000.00 of assessed value).
