NEW BUSINESS
Gertrude Meeks, 9389 Granby Street, Apt. A, commented on the lack of crossing guard at all
the High Schools in Norfolk, especially at Norview High School where a student was hit and
seriously injured.
Robin Johnson, P.O. Box 10501, commented she is an advocate for the homeless and stated her
501C organization needs a building to educate and feed the homeless.
Samuel Nellum, 5832 Leslie Avenue, commented on Chief Larry Boone’s service on the Norfolk
City Police force.
James Washington, 216 W. 33rd Street, commented on gun violence in the city and mentioned
Stop the Violence Guns down facebook page.
Kevia Hendricks, P.O. Box 7881, Norfolk Branch NAACP, Economic Development, commented
on the American Rescue Plan Act funds distribution.
Vincent Hodges, 622 Raleigh Avenue, Apt. 4, commented on the $5 million dollar request for
the revitalization of the St. Paul’s area from the American Rescue Plan Act fund.
Lelia Van, 219 Granby Street, Unit 20, President of the Downtown Norfolk Civic League, spoke
on the gun violence in downtown Norfolk. Thanked council for the increase of police presence
in downtown after hours.
Monet Johnson, 3505 Argonne Avenue, commented on the $5 million dollar request for the
revitalization of the St. Paul’s area from the American Rescue Plan Act fund
Vincent LaSalle, 1819 Tidewater Drive, commented on the $5 million dollar request for the
revitalization of the St. Paul’s area from the American Rescue Plan Act fund
Shenita Perry, 801 Townsend Court, spoke about an event partnership with the city which all
the proceeds raised would go to Norfolk Public Schools.
Sauda Speede, 9433 Capeview Avenue, commented on the need to have community centers
with paid programs and services for the youth.
Dr. Calvin Durham, Senior Pastor New Hope God and Christ, invited council to the April 16, 2022
“Vac Up Virginia” Event, that encourages young people to be vaccinated.
