All AIM Norman Neighborhood Workshops are not regular meetings of the AIM Norman Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, but the Steering Committee will be invited to attend, and this notice is being posted in compliance with the Oklahoma Open Meetings Act in the event of a quorum. PUBLIC INVITED TO VISIT TABLES STAFFED BY CITY PERSONNEL, CONSULTANTS, AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO DISCUSS VISION FOR THE AIM NORMAN PLAN. Current Land Use Board o Toll $ = funded roads, how are we going to get the funding? o 650 homes = saving 15-20 minutes o Most dangerous intersection is 240 & 35 o Norman was tasked to do the water source o Look at park designation around the Lake Future Land Use and Density Board o Need more medium density mixed in with single family on small lots (mixed density) so that we are not over concentrating people, especially low income o Would like to see the 10 acre pattern east of 56th Environmental Constraints Board o 48th remains an important boundary Norman Today Board o “Affordable” subjective med. Income $60,000, around $1,200/month o ~32,522 commute elsewhere, that’s where you need transportation, not through the country to Tulsa o Better transit options needed for Norman/OKC commuters. Current bus ride takes 2+ hours for whole trip one way. Allow commercial venues to operate near water areas such as café, large beer pong, pickle ball courts. Make it fun and profitable. Very boring community for younger people!  Can we use permeable pavement options for parking, sidewalks, and paths? Are there more ‘natural’ playground options using natural materials like wood logs, incorporating slides into hillslopes, etc.?  Please restore existing creeks and waterways with our parks and avoid moving to the water’s edge  Support native ecology/no mow/light foot traffic  More focus on low water use, fewer chemicals, no mow native planting  Kayaking/canoeing along streams  More connected bike trails. Look at Quebec City!  Bike Trails  ADA Accessible playgrounds and recreational facilities  Dog park like bid west city > bridge over the water  Trails that go through the city connecting parks, creeks, and other green spaces to other public facilities like schools and libraries  More natural areas – prairie restoration, pollinator/wildlife friendly  Ropes course o What (park) amenities are most important to have close to home?  Adopt a tree program for the parks to help with watering  EV stations at charging Ruby and Reaves  Community orchard – pecan trees  Water features  Walking/biking path around Fraces Café and Reaves  Connected trails  Pickleball courts  More trees and shade  More toddler areas/safety sufficing o What needs aren’t currently being met by our parks and programs?  More for the 50 and over  Public road cleaning/adopt a road Transportation Board AIM NORMAN NEIGHBORHOOD WORKSHOPS - Monday, March 11, 2024 Page |2  o How should future transportation projects be prioritized? We need another way to get to the city – not around it  Can we incorporate green stormwater/practices in transportation projects? Permeable pavements for biking/pedestrian paths, sidewalks apart from roadways/connecting neighborhoods  Coordinated signalization from I-35 to John Saxon on State HWY 9 Active Transportation Board o Where do you or would you like to ride or walk to?  Speed up progress on Legacy Trail to Clear Bay o Where are more bike and pedestrian facilities most needed?  More bike trails everywhere  West Side  East Cedar Lane Water/Wastewater Board o How do you feel about water reuse?  I would support recycling water back into Lake Thunderbird: 4 dots  I would support recycling water back to the drinking water treatment plant: 2 dots  I would support expanding other sources of supply instead: 2 dots o What is your biggest concern regarding the City of Norman’s wastewater system?  Water reclamation facility capacity and reliability: 1 dot  Quality of treated water discharged: 1 dot o Additional comments:  How can we incentivize less water usage?  Can we encourage greywater reuse in single-home dwellings (for example, systems like hydraloop”  State level concerns re: House bills to meter res. wells. No thanks! Stormwater Board o Information Board Comments:  60th and Lindsay Corridor dumped asphalt in 2023, silver star, 1 strip of sod  All city parks and ROWs could benefit from green solutions. The majority of urban streams have become incised and could benefit from restoration.  Neighborhood ponds that start to leak on dam in danger of failing and flooding and leave no quity available to fix the problems o The City uses the following evaluation criteria when choosing stormwater projects to implement throughout the City.
