City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee Minutes for April 8, 2019 Meeting, 6:15 PM City of Norman Municipal Complex 201 West Gray, Building A Room C (1) Roll Call and Introduction of Visitors: a. Members present: Carr, Krumholz, Cantwell, Carrie, Southern, Woodfin b. Visitors: Laura Matlock, Ok Dept of Health/Norman Open Streets (2) Approval of March Meeting Minutes & New Business for May 2019 agenda a. Minutes approved (3) Agenda Minutes • Norman Bike Skills Park update (Briggs) Design/building contractor PBR sent shop drawings of jumps and banks plus layout for City review. Likely construction of park this summer – possible to have opening by July 4, 2019? Discussion of alley pavement in poor condition – proposal to have James & Angelo meet with Jud Foster and Sean O’Reilly about upgrade/repair. • Legacy Trail Eco-counter disposition: (Woodfin/Lombardo) no movement detected • Open Streets Norman 2019 (Matlock) Laura Matlock updated with handout showing location of BAC table next to Bicycle League of Norman table promoting Norman Conquest bike ride. Carr to set up bicycle skills course for kids. ACOG (Taylor Johnson) to set up demonstration bike lane next to BAC table. • Review DRAFT BAC Activities Summary to Council Subcommittee (All) draft to be shown at May meeting. Angelo asked for more photos of BAC activities. • Nominations and vote for BAC Chair, Vice-Chair & Secretary: discussion, no nominations or votes – to occur at May meeting. • Discussion that with resignation of Woodfin, there will be 3 vacancies on the BAC. Members need to contact their Council representative to urge appointments from the volunteer list. • Woodfin spoke about his years on the BAC since September 2011, 5 years as Chair and congratulated the members for their good work. He expressed his deep appreciation for the collaborative working efforts of Angelo Lombardo and James Briggs. • City of Norman Updates: • James Briggs PARD: discussed process of naming Skills Park – asked for potential names from BAC members. A discussion to be continued. • Angelo Lombardo Norman Transportation initiatives: Transportation Bond passed on April 2, 2019. Currently process for program manager of Bond Program. Six miles of new bike lanes included in the proposed projects. Ten years with 38 projects. Order of implementation will depend upon partnership funding cycles. • Teddy Wilson Norman PD: no report • CART Bikes on buses for March: 613 (report from Sandy Shapiro, CART sshapiro@ou.edu ) • Crimson Cruiser statistics: Kris Glenn krisglenn@ou.edu • Upcoming meetings / topics of interest to cycling in Norman • Open Streets Norman2019 Sunday, April 14th 1-5 pm Laura Matlock LauraMa@health.ok.gov • Earth Day Reaves Park 12 – 5 pm Sunday, April 28, 2019: BAC table reserved • Bike to Work Day – May 17th  • BAC should propose in collaboration with Angelo a proclamation to present to City Council declaring May as Bike Month.
