City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee Minutes for September 9, 2019 Meeting, 6:15 PM City of Norman Municipal Complex 201 West Gray, Executive Conference Room  Roll Call and Introduction of Visitors: Members present: Hal Cantwell – Chair and recreational cyclist, Former racer. BLN chair Chris Southern – Mountain Bikes Sunni Bailey-Koszarek – Community and Social Media, Vice Chair Michelle Carr – Former racer and now advocate for local bicycle use, Jackson PTA Lee Krumholz – Recreational and commuter, BikeOklahoma, Secretary Ex officio Members present: David Riesland – Norman Transportation Engineer James Briggs – Norman Parks • Visitors: Jordon Evans – ACOG • Approval of August Meeting Minutes- Minutes from previous meeting approved at 6:26 PM o September Agenda Minutes o City of Norman Updates: o Briggs discussed Creekside Bike Skills Park. Construction has been completed. Park crew will spray for poison Ivy and complete other last-minute cleanup. The projected Grand Opening will be Sept. 21 at noon. o Future Skate Park design meeting will discuss a bike component to the skate park. o Artistic bike racks are available and will be put on W. Lindsey. James is looking for suggestions for other racks. o Riesland discussed 24th Ave. East, bond project is scheduled to start on Sept. 23 at the south end near Lindsey. The bike lane on West Main over Brookhaven Creek is not yet finished. o J. Evans from ACOG described bicycle count, which will take place in Sept (Oct. 15-5-7PM and 19th-10-12 AM. Locations for manual counts are. Legacy trail (1) near Acres (2) near Eufaula, (3) Constitution and Oak Tree, (4) 36th and Rock Creek and one other location. Counting Pedestrians and cyclists in each direction. Volunteers will be needed. o Jackson Bike Rodeo went well with 65 kids attending. 35 helmets were given away. 2 police officers helped out. o Jordan Evans. ACOG had a BPAC meeting. They went over the regional map of bike and pedestrian facilities. Mentioned that there are grants available for congestion and air quality mitigation that would be useful for funding bike infrastructure. Bike sharing and bike parking. Grant proposals greater than$20K. o City-wide cycle maps and as well as the BFC application on agenda for next month .
