City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee Minutes for Feb. 10, 2020 Meeting, 6:15 PM City of Norman Municipal Complex 201 West Gray, Executive Conference Room • Roll Call of Members and Introduction of Visitors including Tegan Malone. All members present except Gordon and George.  Approval of Jan. Meeting Minutes done at 7:12.  BAC Member Updates. Caroline mentioned.  James Briggs, CoNPARD  City of Norman Updates: New survey from LAB. James encouraged board to participate. Sunni will put a link to friendly cyclists in the Facebook page. Article written for Boyd Street Mag on bike park.  David Riesland, Norman Transportation initiatives. 24th Ave. bond project moving forward in both directions.  Thomas Zermeno, Norman PD. Police will be starting their riding season shortly. Thomas will be doing a school in April for EMS police and security. The Norman police academy will be graduating this week and new officers (10) will be joining the force shortly.  Bikes on City Area Transit buses for Jan.: City Taylor Johnson: 827 bikes with 27,000 riders so about 3% of riders have bikes. Bike club. Sarah Shanks introduced Bike club. After school program teaches kids cycling and life skills. Kids earn a bike after completing curriculum. Tegan Malone then spoke about the origins of bike club. ABC’s. Attendance behavior and C. Works best if there is an interested person in the school. Focus on healthy eating and taking care of your body. Costs are about $14,000 to start up including reward bicycles at end of the year. Tegan has 17 kids involved at her school and has bikes for everyone. They meet for 1.5 hours/week. Bikeclub.okc. Sarah suggested a couple of elementary schools in Norman. Next meeting is on March 9.
