Community Development Block Grant Policy Committee Public Meeting

CITY OF NORMAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM PUBLIC HEARING AND DISCUSSION The CDBG Neighborhood Meeting of the City of Norman, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma, met for the Neighborhood Meeting on January 23, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. Notice and Agenda of the meeting were posted at the Norman Municipal Building and at www.Normanok.gov twenty-four hours prior to the beginning of the meeting. Lisa Krieg, CDBG Grant Manager called the meeting to order at 6:04pm. Item No. 1, being: Introductions. City Staff in attendance: Lisa Krieg James Heath Tara Reynolds Item No. 2, being: Update on the City of Norman CDBG and HOME Projects. • 6 unit ADA accessible Vicksburg Circle completed. • 2 unit ADA accessible Hughbert duplex completed. • Overview of the housing rehabilitation program, which includes housing modifications for accessibility, emergency, and comprehensive rehabs for low income households. Item No. 3 being: Discussion of the Issues Facing Low and Moderate Income Households in Norman. • Three main issues were discussed Transportation, Mental Health services, and Affordable Housing. • Lisa asked that if anyone notices any available land or possible renovations to contact her for inspection to determine its viability as an Affordable Housing opportunity. • There was discussion about rental assistance, and Karen from the Norman Housing Authority explained their process for helping low income households. • The lack of mental health care providers and lack of services was discussed, as well as the affordability of such services. • The city is waiting to hear back from the Federal Transportation Administration about the CART system. It was suggested that a ride share program or UBER vouchers were a possibility for low income transportation. Item No. 4 being: Election of at-large CDBG Policy Committee Reps • All attendees will receive an email to either join or opt out of being a neighborhood representative.
