Community Development Block Grant Policy Committee Meeting

CITY OF NORMAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM CDBG NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING The CDBG Neighborhood Meeting of the City of Norman, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma, met for the Neighborhood Meeting on January 17, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. Notice and Agenda of the meeting were posted at the Norman Municipal Building and at www.Normanok.gov twenty-four hours prior to the beginning of the meeting. Lisa Krieg, CDBG Grant Manager called the meeting to order at 6:05pm. Item No. 1, being: Introductions. City Staff in attendance: Lisa Krieg Michelle Evans Barbara Burlingame Janita Hatley Lt. Cary ?? Tara Reynolds Item No. 2, being: Update on Neighborhoods Projects. • CDGB is currently accepting bids for 2 tree planting projects in CDBG neighborhoods to enhance the tree canopy. • Waiting for negotiations to modify two CART stops. • 6 unit ADA accessible Vicksburg Circle completed. • 2 unit ADA accessible Hughbert duplex completed. • Norman became the 7th community in the nation to achieve functional zero for homeless veterans. Item No. 3 being: Election of CDBG Policy Committee Representatives. • All attendees will receive an email to either join or opt out of being a neighborhood representative. Item No. 4 being: Discussion of Neighborhood issues with representatives from the Norman Police Department, and the Code Enforcement Staff. • Lt. Cary discussed the City’s efforts to get identification for the homeless population. • There was a lot of discussion with Code compliance staff regarding different infractions, including parking, abandoned houses, grass, park mowing schedules, vacant lots, and homeless individuals. • There was discussion regarding installing or mending curbs in specific neighborhoods, and the viability and cost. • There was discussion regarding tree removal and the position of forester in the City.
