TREE BOARD December 5, 2016 The Tree Board of the City of Norman, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma, met in the Study Session Room on the 5th day of December 2016 at 4:00 P.M. ITEM 1, being: ROLL CALL Present: Chairman Menzie and members Fagin, Grisso, Huffman, Janaway, and Winegardner ( one position vacant) Absent: Members Spain and Vanlandingham City Officials Present: Sherrel Sheriff, Admin Tech IV ITEM 2, being: APPROVAL OF THE NOVEMBER 7, 2016 MEETING MINUTES Member Huffman made the motion and Member Fagin seconded to approve the minutes. The vote was taken with the following results: YEAH: Chairman Menzie and members Fagin, Grisso, Huffman, Janaway, and Winegardner NAY: None ITEM 3, being: APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Member Huffman made the motion and Member Winegardner seconded to approve the agenda. The vote was taken with the following results: YEAH: Chairman Menzie and members Fagin, Grisso, Huffman, Janaway, and Winegardner NAY: None Tree Board Page 2 of 3 December 5, 2016 ITEM 4, being: SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS Artwalk/Outreach – nothing to report – currently taking a break from Art Walks with the colder weather. No Tree Tip for December ITEM 5, being: TREE STORY CONTEST Ten entries were received for the Tree Story Contest. Members talked about being more pro- active next year to get generate more interest. After discussion Marco Fuenmayor was awarded 1st place, Annika Collier, 2nd place and AJ Mazek-Allen, 3rd place. Chairman Menzie stated Mariah Menzie (dressed as Mother Nature) will be taking the prizes to the school to be awarded to the students. They were all from Lincoln Elementary School. ITEM 6, being: CHRISTMAS PARADE The parade will be Saturday, December 10th. Member Grisso is going to get the permit. Plans are to meet around 8:00 Saturday morning to put the float together. Bring ornaments and tinsel. Chairman Menzie is providing the trailer and tree. Member Winegardner has made cutouts to decorate the float. Member Fagin will bring the banner ITEM 7, being: 2017 Meeting Dates After reviewing the 2017 calendar, members discussed not meeting in January, July and September. ITEM 8, being: MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTS Sherrel Sheriff informed the board there will be a retirement reception for Suzanne Terry who is leaving the Parks and Recreation department after 30 years of service on December 22. Invitations will be sent out by e-mail. Member Huffman announced the 2017 Earth Day Celebration will be held Sunday, April 23rd. He will fill out the application for a booth.
