Minutes for Norwich Baseball Stadium Authority Regular Monthly Meeting Wednesday April 8, 2015 (6:00 p.m.) City Hall Norwich 1. Call to order. Chairperson, Mike Jewell MJ (6:04pm) NBSA Members Present: Gary Schnip, GS; Sean Ryan, SR; Michael Jewell, MJ; Tom Cummings, TC; Robert Reed, RR; Peter Slocum, PS, Gary Carignan, GC; Matthew Fortin, MF, Bob Demars, BD, Members Absent: none Also Present: Eric Knighton, EK – CT Tigers Representative 2. Review of March 11, 2015 Meeting Minutes. Motion made by TC and seconded by SR passed (8-0) to accept the meeting minutes as presented. 3. Public Comment - None 4. Chairman’s Report (MJ) – began discussion regarding EK list of repair items referred to GS for comment 5. Correspondence a. Sent: Letter re: Attraction signing for Dodd Stadium (see attached) b. Received: i. Email from Sandy Kuchta dated April 7, 2015 detailing March financial reports. (See attached). ii. Outstanding balance will be made current prior to start of the season 6. Budget Committee: Thanks to Sandy for email containing financials. Critical that the NBSA continues to receive the financials this way until an Accountant is elected to the NBSA. 7. Operations Committee (GS/Organization Representatives) a. First item to address was the roof. Inspection contract for $4,850, PO issued by City of Norwich to Eagle Roofing b. Door closers- Park Roway furnish and install 8 closers for $2,916. GS to propose to City of Norwich to issue PO for this work to be performed c. Wash & seal block on exterior of building. Original estimate will exceed $12,000 will require public bid package. GS to go to architect to prepare bid package  d. Grease traps 2&3 …contractor will be contacted to provide pricing e. Lighting consultant was emailed, didn’t hear back. Reached out to another outfit to do inspection on April 14th. Prime will check lights before inspection. Adjustments will be required. Costs TBD, but work has to be completed prior to start of the season f. Other items on the list on the March 11th minutes will be prioritized at a future time. They includes; i. Broken window in press box ii. Parking lot hole, but must wait to until snow melts iii. Concrete slab in front of office iv. Hot water heater for main office v. Carpet in suites must be replaced due to rips; proposed to replace in stages vi. Ventilation improvement in concession stands vii. Stadium seat repairs; potentially replace by increasing handicap seats and using parts from good seats on concourse level g. Parking lot lights; SR to check with NPU to see if they can help h. GS/TC repair list will be finalized; i. MJ will draft cover letter to City Management and City Council with anticipation to be distributed in May 2015 j. Organization’s Monthly Report EK – i. Opening up on April 8, 2015 between NFA and local opponent ii. Many area high schools are using Dodd Stadium for their home field due to various problems with their home fields including East Lyme and Wheeler 8. Old Business: Letter to be drafted to be submitted to the City Council including all the major capital improvement/maintenance items. 9. New Business: None 10.
