BOARD OF REVIEW, DANGEROUS BUILDINGS MINUTES OF THE APRIL 26, 2010 REGULAR MEETING Committee members present: Chairman Gary Schnip, Sofee Noblick, Jim Quarto Richard Caron and Andy Zeeman. Committee members not present: Others present: James Troeger, Alderman Tucker Braddock and Darlene Fedus- Papineau The meeting was called to order at 5:30. A quorum was present and all members present were voting. Agenda items 1, 2 & 3: The minutes of the March 24, 2010 meeting were reviewed. Upon motion by Tucker Braddock and second by Sofee Noblick, the Committee voted unanimously to approve the minutes as submitted. 4. Communications: None 5. Blight updates/concerns: 1. 105 Stonington Road: Jin Troeger informed the board he had spoken to the owner and told Jim he will take it down shortly. Soffee showed the Board a current picture of the garage that has been painted and boarded up at the garage doors in the front. 2. 45 Uncas Street: Jim Troeger informed the Board that the case was continued for two weeks so the property owner could obtain an Attorney. Mr. Braddock asked about the status of the abutting property owner’s lawsuit and was informed by Mr. Troeger it is continued until May 12, 2010. 3. 98 Washington Street-Cassidy house: The property owner was present to address questions regarding the status and violations that exist with the property. The Board informed Ms. Woerheide that they are concerned with the outside appearance and safety issues such as the railings on the exterior stairs, missing siding and many other exterior violations. Mr. Braddock asked Ms. Woerheide what her plans were. The property owner did not give any concrete answers as to her plans for the safety violations. Mr. Tucker reminded her that the safety issues have to be addressed. Ms. Woerheide was advised she should check into grants or rehab programs that may be available through Community Development or Rose City Renaissance and other agencies. Mr. Martin, Blight Enforcement Officer reminded the owner he would need to start enforcement action soon. 4. 120 Laurel Hill Mr. Troeger will have Ed Martin re-check the property and check to see if building permits are in place. 5. 60 Broad Street: The owner has applied to demo the barn. Page1 of 2 Last Revised 12/8/2009 3:36 PM 6. 554 East Main Street: Mr. Martin spoke to the owner and sent a citation. Owners will take roof structure out and board and fence around right rear corner of property aka cd corner. 7. 1 Rockwell Terrace and 241 Broadway-Mr. Troeger, Gary Schnip and Tucker Braddock will inspect by driving by. Mr. Troeger stated there was little he could do code wise with both properties. 8. 164 Wightman Avenue- There is a zoning permit for the storage unit. Ed Martin will look at the back of the house for a tarp on the roof. 9. 8 West Town Street- Mr. Martin will determine if the property needs a fence for safety reasons. 10. Public Comments: None 11. Agenda Setting and Adjournment: The agenda for the 05/26/2010 meeting was set.
