CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Caulfield called the October 19, 2022 meeting of the Norwich Golf Course
Authority to order at 6:00 p.m.
MINUTES
A motion to approve the minutes of the September 21, 2022 meeting was made by Mr.
Lathrop, seconded by Mr. Malouf and approved by a vote of 9-0.
FINANCIAL REPORT
Ms. McKiernan presented the September 2022 NGCA Financial Report.
OPERATING REVENUES for the month of September 2022 were $126,183 compared to
budgeted revenues of $141,283, $15,100 under budgeted revenues, and $15,163 more
than September 2021 revenues.

EXPENSES for the month of September 2022 were $116,424 compared to budgeted
expenses of $119,377, $2,953 under budgeted expenses and $2,001 over September
2021 expenses.
NET PROFIT for September 2022 was $9,759 compared to NET LOSS for September
2021 of $3,043. This is after depreciation of $12,080 in 2022 and $12,227 in 2021.
CASH BALANCE for September 2022 was $197,294 compared to the prior month,
August 2022, where the comparable figure was $184,525. This is an increase of $12,769.
YTD OPERATING REVENUES were $1,165,791, compared to YTD budgeted revenues of
$1,098,650. This is $67,141 over the YTD Budget, and $20,694 less than the prior year.
YTD EXPENSES were $1,194,170 compared to YTD budgeted expenses of $1,104,195.
This is $89,976 over the YTD budgeted expenses, and $198,565 more than the prior
year.
YTD Total Revenues were less than Expenses by $28,380; which is over budget by
$22,835 and $219,260 under YTD September 2021.
Items of interest on the Balance Sheet:
The October Caddy Shack rent is paid in full through a $12,000 gift card
exchange. The amount exchanged was sufficient to pay the rent through the end
of year in full with additional credit towards the rent due in January 2023.
The balance in Accounts Payable (products/services received but not paid for as
of 09/30/22) is $6,307.
The Due to General Fund is the NGCA’s cash balance as of 09/30/22. The City
owes the NGCA funds of $197,294.
NOTE: September Cash Balance less Accounts Payable equals Cash (Shortfall):
$197,294 - $6,307 = $190,987
A motion to accept the Financial Report was made by Mr. Malouf, seconded by Mr.
Lathrop and approved by a vote of 9-0.
CORRESPONDENCE
Chairman Caulfield and Mr. Svab noted there had been no correspondence received.
CADDY SHACK RESTAURANT
In addition to the gift card transfers described in the financial report, the Authority
received a payment of $1,180 from Rand Whitney representing monies due the Caddy

Shack. In combination with the gift card transfer this results in receipt of payments due
for the rest of year and into 2023.
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
Chairman Caulfield noted the course is running fine at this point.
COURSE SUPERINTENDENT
Mr. Kundahl indicated that the irrigation system will be blown out on or about
November 10, 2022. Currently blowing leaves off the course is a continuing concern for
maintenance.
PRO MANAGER REPORT
Mr. Svab indicated that things are moving along well, and that revenues have generally
been good in October. Mr. Svab thanked the members of the Authority for their support
of his upcoming tournament to take place on October 23, 2023.
MEMBER’S CLUB
Mr. Busca noted that a scramble event scheduled for October 2, 2022 was cancelled as
too few players had signed up for it. Mr. Nevin reported that the annual competition
between Norwich and Shennecossett was won by Norwich, 42.5 points to 38.5 points.
This is Norwich’s first win at Shennecossett, both courses have now had one away win.
Mr. Busca reported that the CSGA fee is to go up $6 next year and that the 2023 Rules of
Golf are now accessible online.
REPORT ON BRIDGE PROJECT
Mr. Malouf stated meetings will be held with the two water pollution control authorities
and determination made as to whether such approvals will be sufficient for the DEEP.
REPORT ON BUDGET COMMITTEE
Mr. Malouf also reported that the Budget Committee has had a meeting with updates of
the first draft sent out on October 19th. A meeting will be held on Thursday, October 27,
2022 at 8:30 AM at the Authority room.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made at 6:21 PM by Mr. DiBattista, seconded by
Mr. Lathrop and approved unanimously.
