Christie was raised. A vote was taken and unanimously approved. Committee members

Reports
Jim Sanca reported on the following:
• Southeastern Connecticut Youth Hockey hosted Connecticut Hockey Day on
November 6th with 40 skaters participating. This was an opportunity for skaters
to try the sport free of charge. SECYH purchased the ice time and The Rink
donated the rental skates
• Special holiday hours will be offered during the Thanksgiving weekend
• Sixty skaters from Teachers Memorial and Kelly Middle School will participate in
an instructional public skate session funded by a grant through Aspire. The goal
is for the program to grow to include all schools in the Norwich system
• Learn To Skate classes have started at Connecticut College in addition to those
running at The Rink
• January is Skating Month and together with SECYH, The Rink will hold special
events during the month - culminating with a synchronized team competing in
Marlborough, MA
• Norwich Skating School has been meeting with local hotels and restaurants to
secure sponsorships during the 2011 New England District 1 Championship to be
held at The Rink in July
• The Rink will hold a special holiday show, “First Snow” on Saturday, November
20th. A spring show is also planned.
• Utilities report: gas expenses were up considerably during the month of October,
likely due to the inefficiencies of the dehumidifier. This piece of equipment is 10
years old and is approximately $20,000 to repair. Jim Sanca is researching
alternative options
