NORWICH ICE RINK AUTHORITY MINUTES FROM MEETING HELD Octob er zo,2ot:- AuthorityAttendance: Mike Goldblatt, Doug Barlow, Rich Wolak, and Mike Schermerhorn Absent Cheryl Ritacco Guest: Jim Sanca MII\IUTES Meeting was called to order by Michael Goldblatt at 6:oo pD, & quorum was present. Minutes from the September meeting lvere reviewed. The September minutes were unanimously approved. Public Comments There were no public comments Correspondencg There lvere no public correspondences Reports Jim Sanca reported on the following: The learn to skate program has roo participants at this time. This is slightly above normal for this time ofyear. The Norwich Skating School now has 67 members and is fundraising for a trip to the zoL2ISI Worlds iu Dallas, Texas starting on November 12, 2ot2. The Norwich Skating Club will once again be presenting the Nutcracker on Ice, Saturday November r9ft at 2 pm and 6 pm. The Sunday show, on November 2oth will be at 4 pm. Southeastem Youth Hockey is currenfly putting together a Thanksgiving toumarnent. Jim presented an idea of organizing an all female hockey organization run by The Rink. There is a void in the area for women's hockey at all age groups. The current unoccupied room in the building was suggested as a locker room for the females. Jim is currentlylooking at leagues, financial impact, and members for a program like this for the rink. Other suggeslous for that room were discussed but noue seemed viable at this time. St. Thomas More will be starting their ice hockey program on the first week of November while the St. Bemard/NFA/ Bacon Academy team will start the last week of November. The concession will have an automatic grease trap installed and there was a discussion on replacing the batteries and charger on the zamboni. Mike Arnone has been communicating with the concession staff and there seems to be a good flow of information back and forth. The restriping of the parking lot has been performed. The budget was discussed at length and there was a much concern about the maintenance that had to be performed and how that would affect the bottom line.
