NORWICH ICE RINK AUTHORITY MINUTES FROM MEETING HELD December 15, 2011 Authority Attendance: Mike Schermerhorn, Doug Barlow, Rich Wolak and Cheryl Ritacco Absent: Mike Goldblattt Guest: Jim Sanca MINUTES Meeting was called to order by Michael Schermerhorn at 6:07 pm, a quorum was present.Minutes from the October meeting were reviewed. The October minutes were unanimously approved. Public Comments There were no public comments Correspondence There were no public correspondences Reports Jim Sanca reported on the following: • Learn to Skate currently has 115 members. Revenue intake decreased during the past month due to many Learn to Skate students graduating to ISI Skating School. However, this led to increase freestyle income, making up the difference. • Norwich Skating School has 67 members registered and keeps growing. • The Skating School will be holding fundraisers in the coming months for their trip to Dallas, Tx to compete in ISI World Championships. 15-20 skaters hope to travel to the July competition. • Norwich Figure Skating Club hosted three Nutcracker on Ice shows this holiday season. The first show was a sell out with the other two coming in close. Total ice rental sales for rehearsal and shows brought in additional income to The Rink. • The Rink continues to move forward with their efforts to organize and run a girls hockey program.  • DCS Energy third party funding partner opted out of the PV solar projects, therefore all municipal projects are not longer being considered. • Two lighting companies will develop presentations on Rink LED light upgrades and the potential for savings. Also expected is a proposal from NPU contractor for upgrade to compressor motor and soft start motor controller. • Weight room renovations are in progress. Half of the space will be rented to Yulia Borissova for her off-ice conditioning business. The remainder of the space will consist of three locker rooms to be rented by local youth hockey teams.
