NORWICH ICE RINK AUTHORITY MINUTES FROM SPECIAL MEETING HELD September 4, 2013 Authority Attendance: Pete Desaulniers, Stephanie Davis, JoAnn Beguhl, Mark Bettencourt, Gary Makowicki Absent: Cheryl Ritacco, Mike Goldblatt Guest: Shannon FitzGerald, Jeff Brining, Douglas Roberts Meeting was called to order by Pete Desaulniers at 7:00 pm, a quorum was present. Executive Session: There was no business that warranted executive session Chiller: This afternoon there was a meeting with Trane and Nalco to discuss the rental chiller and the timeline for the Rink reopening. The ammonia level in the brine is still too high to put the rental chiller online; Nalco will continue to work on clearing the ammonia and regulating the ph of the brine. The estimated time line for reopening is 7-14 days from today, September 4, 2013. 14 days being the worst case scenario. Pete Desaulniers notes that Trane recommends insulating the piping for the rental chiller, and adding a filtration system. Pete suggests that the facilities sub-committee work on this and present a report to the Authority. Mark Bettencourt makes a motion for the matters of insulating the pipes for the rental chiller and adding a filtration system to be referred to the Facilities subcommittee with Jeff Brining as an ad hoc member. JoAnn Beguhl seconds the motion, which passed unanimously. Director of Rink Operations: Mark Bettencourt made a motion to accept the employment agreement as presented this evening, for Douglas W. Roberts Jr. as Director of Rink Operations effective today, September 4, 2013. JoAnn Beguhl seconds the motion, which passed unanimously.
