NORWICH ICE RINK AUTHORITY MINUTES FROM MEETING HELD September 19, 2013 Authority Attendance: Pete Desaulniers, Cheryl Ritacco, Mark Bettencourt, Stephanie Davis, Gary Makowicki, and JoAnn Beguhl Absent: Mike Goldblatt Guest: Shannon FitzGerald Meeting was called to order by Pete Desaulniers at 7:00 pm, a quorum was present. Review of Minutes: Minutes from August 15, 2013, August 27, 2013, and September 4, 2013 were approved as submitted. There were no public comments There was no correspondence submitted Director’s Report Doug Roberts submitted a written report, which was read by Shannon FitzGerald. Doug’s report briefly overviewed some of the people he has met with and things that have been going on at the Rink. The Authority noted that in the future they would like more information in the report and that they are preparing a document for Doug to report on such things as grand opening plan, staffing, etc. New Business Rental Agreements: Norwich Figure Skating Club to rent 18 hours of ice September through November for Nutcracker rehearsals and shows. With a motion made by JoAnn Beguhl, and seconded by Stephanie Davis, the NFSC rental agreement passed unanimously. Resignation of Rink Authority Board Secretary: Pete requests that the secretary be a Norwich Ice Rink staff member appointed by Rink Director of Operations, Doug Roberts. Old Business Budget: On hold pending Rink reopening date Chiller Update: Continuously flushed the brine system, Trane came and flushed all lines that run under the ice floor. There is still a small amount of ammonia in the system. We are currently waiting on test results that will determine how to proceed to remove the remaining ammonia. Facility’s committee will meet to come up with a plan for a new heat exchanger. Child Protection Policy: Tabled for Rink Director to review. When Doug Roberts is available he can meet with Stephanie Davis and Karen Bartlett to review the draft of the policy.
