MOHEGAN PARK IMPROVEMENT & DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Thursday, July 13, 2017 – 6:30 P.M. Norwich Public Works Conference Room 50 Clinton Avenue, Norwich, CT Regular Meeting MINUTES 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Beryl Fishbone at 6:30 P.M. Committee members present: Beryl Fishbone, Bill Barbuto, Judy Magnano, Rebecca Melucci, Samantha Venturo, Kyle Seitz, Alderwoman Joanne Philbrick, Ryan Thompson (Ex-Officio). 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Upon a motion by Joanne Philbrick, seconded by Samantha Venturo, the committee unanimously approved the minutes of the regular meeting held on May 11, 2017. 3. FINANCIAL REPORT Upon a motion by Rebecca Melucci, seconded by Samantha Venturo, the committee unanimously approved the financial report. 4. OLD BUSINESS a. Chelsea Gardens: Nothing has been heard concerning the progress of the Chelsea Botanical Gardens project. a. Concession Stand: Roof panels were delayed and arrived on the day of this meeting. Install scheduled for next week. b. Park Signage: DPW staff is currently down 15% therefore no progress had been made on signage. c. Trail Activity: Samantha Venturo and Bill Barbuto volunteered to mark trails according to Ryan Thompson’s GPS coordinates. The project was completed on July 16, 2017. d. Educational Programs: Beryl Fishbone continues her effort to bring educational awareness to the park. e. New Playground: New equipment has been installed. f. New Bathrooms: Project halted. g. Recognition of gentleman that picks up trash in the park: Samantha Venturo identified the man and Judy Magnano will make a certificate of recognition. 5. CITIZEN COMMENT  6. OTHER BUSINESS a. Water Tank: Chris LaRose would like to update MPIDAC on water tank progress at September meeting. b. Replacement of Vandalized Sign: Sign has been replaced. c. Ryan Thompson received 2 requests from NFA Cross Country i. Improve drainage at the beginning/end of a trail ii. Fix 4’ wide and 6” depression from washout on graded hill d. Ryan Thompson received a request from Jason Arndt regarding an athletic trail to be built by volunteers such as Scouts. DPW would oversee this free project. 7. RELEVANT REMARKS Ryan Thompson noted that it was a record breaking year for pavilion rentals. 8. ADJOURNMENT Motion was made to adjourn by Rebecca Melucci, seconded by Joann Philbrick and voted unanimously by the committee. The meeting adjourned at 7:14 P.M.
