ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Thursday, September 14, 2017 – 6:30 P.M.

MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Beryl Fishbone at 6:34 P.M.
Committee members present: Beryl Fishbone, Bill Barbuto, Judy Magnano,
Rebecca Melucci, Ryan Thompson (Ex-Officio), Patrick McLaughlin.
Absent: Samantha Venturo, Kyle Seitz, Alderwoman Joanne Philbrick
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Upon a motion by Rebecca Melucci, seconded by Bill Barbuto, the committee
unanimously approved the minutes of the regular meeting held on July 13, 2017.
3. FINANCIAL REPORT
No financial report was presented.
4. OLD BUSINESS
a. Water tank update: NPU representatives were not in attendance.
b. Chelsea Gardens: Nothing has been heard concerning the progress of the
Chelsea Botanical Gardens project.
a. Concession Stand: Roof panels to be installed between Oct. 15th and Nov.
1st when park usage is low.
b. Park Signage: No progress has been made on signage.
c. Trail Activity: Samantha Venturo marked the trails according to Ryan
Thompson’s GPS coordinates on July 16, 2017. Judy Magnano submitted a
copy of a black and white trail map for containers to be purchased and
placed on kiosks.
d. Educational Programs: Beryl Fishbone continues her effort to bring
educational awareness to the park.
e. Recognition of gentleman that picks up trash in the park: Samantha
Venturo identified the man and Judy Magnano has made a certificate of
recognition. Presentation goal is December.
f. Requests from NFA cross country: Ryan was not available to provide an
update on 2 requests concerning trail drainage improvement and the
fixing of a 4’ wide and 6” depression from washout on the graded hill.
g. Athletic Trail Inquiry: Ryan was not available to provide an update
concerning a request from Jason Arndt regarding an athletic trail to be
built by volunteers such as Scouts. DPW would oversee this free project.
5. CITIZEN COMMENT
a. Kylene Thompson of 61 E. Town St., a Norwich Public Schools art teacher,
is interested in bringing student art to the park with a seasonal exhibit(s).
The committee agreed that this would be a workable idea and offered their
support.
6. OTHER BUSINESS
a. Upon a motion by Rebecca Melucci, seconded by Bill Barbuto, the 2018
MPIDAC meeting schedule was approved.
7. ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made to adjourn by Rebecca Melucci, seconded by Bill Barbuto and
voted unanimously by the committee. The meeting adjourned at 7:12 P.M.
