CITY OF NORWICH DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS July 17, 2018 TO: City Clerk FROM: Director of Public Works FILE #: PWD 107-18 SUBJECT: MINUTES OF PUBLIC WORKS & CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE DRAFT The regular meeting of the Public Works and Capital Improvements Committee was held on Monday, July 16, 2018 in the conference room at the Public Works Headquarters, 50 Clinton Avenue. Attendance was as follows: Committee Members Administration Alderwoman Stacy Gould Patrick J. McLaughlin, City Engineer Mayor Peter Nystrom Alderman Sam Browning absent with notification 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 8:05 a.m. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Meeting minutes of the June 18, 2018 were unanimously approved. (Motion: Nystrom, Second: Gould). 3. CITIZEN COMMENT: None 4. OLD BUSINESS: A. Plaques and Monuments There was a brief discussion about a proposed plaque going before the Plaques and Monuments Committee. The Plaques and Monuments Committee will be meeting on July 18th. B. Public Works Projects Updates Update by Pat McLaughlin regarding various projects.  Pleasant Street Bridge is on schedule and should be opened back up in early September.  The Vehicle Wash Building was delayed about two weeks with the discovery of some unsuitable soils which needed to be removed and replaced to avoid potential settlement of the building. The foundation will be constructed this week.
