CITY OF NORWICH DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS March 18, 2020 TO: City Clerk FROM: Director of Public Works FILE #: PWD 034-20 SUBJECT: MINUTES OF PUBLIC WORKS & CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE A meeting of the Public Works and Capital Improvements Committee was held on Monday, March 16, 2020 in the conference room at the Public Works Headquarters, 50 Clinton Avenue. Attendance was as follows: Committee Members Administration Alderwoman Stacy Gould Patrick McLaughlin, Director Alderman Joseph DeLucia Nicole Doyle, Recording Secretary 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:04 p.m. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The meeting minutes of the January 21, 2020 meeting were unanimously approved. (Motion: Gould, Second: DeLucia) 3. CITIZEN COMMENT - None 4. OLD BUSINESS A. Public Works Projects Updates  Sherman Street Bridge – authorized to begin final design.  Sunnyside Bridge – executed contract with Mattern Construction and gave the Notice to Proceed for April 13, 2020.  Annual Paving – expected to start in late April.  Dunham Street –expected to send out to bid soon.  Franklin Square Roundabout – had good feedback from the Public Information meeting.  Capital Sidewalk Project – expected to start in the Spring.  Mohegan Park Bathrooms – under construction.  Howard T Brown Park – paving expected to begin late April or early May 2020.  Veterans WWI Park in Taftville – McLaughlin met with Veterans to discuss improvements and applied for block grant. B. Property Disposition  36 Huntington Ave– Gould said the Dangerous Buildings Board of Review will pass on this property due to poor condition.
