City of Norwich Recreation Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Dec 2, 2009 Members Present: Robert Spayne, Chairman Ray Stewart William Nash Members Excused: John Iovino Also Present: Luis DePina, Recreation Director Meeting called to order at 6:12 p.m. Motion made by Ray Stewart to accept minutes of September meeting with a second from Bill Nash. Motion passes unanimously. A general discussion followed regarding the YMCA. Recreation Director DePina stressed that the primary goal would be to secure the building, protect it against the elements, and then make further expenditures part of the normal budget process. The discussion also covered the different partnerships that will be formed (NFA, Norwich Public Schools, Sr. Center, etc), possible funding sources ( capital improvement budget, CDBG grants, Sachem Fund), and the overall condition of the building and roofs. Lou DePina also informed Board members that there will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, December 9th in room 335 in City Hall. DePina informed Board members that programs were going well and that there were 256 children enrolled in the Randy Deglin basketball camp and 290 children enrolled in the youth basketball leagues.
