Minutes of the 9-23-20 meeting were approved 100 Broadway Room 212 Old Business: Cher yl r eviewed some CIP pr ojects, namely the ir r igation system at Jennings. This project needed additional funding of about $7000 which Lee and Norwich, CT 06360 Cheryl have secured by asking the City to appropriate unspent CIP funds from other 860-823-3778 projects. The project is finished and the filed has water for the first time in many years. The concession stand is also complete and the Rec was able to add some new FAX 860-823-3793 bleachers. We will replace some signage and add bumpers to the newly painted park- http://norwichct.org/hs ing lot. There may be some changes to the walking track as it encroaches on the field. There are about 300 youth who use this field for football. It was suggested that NYFL try to fundraise to improve the lighting there. Rose City Senior Center Irrigation projects at Ouellette and Fountain fields are completed. Cheryl mentioned 8 Mahan Drive that our Rec budget was increased to include the cost of watering all these newly irri- gated fields. FAX 860-885-1160 http://norwichct.org/ It was noted that Rec did a great job running men’s softball this year and many people seniors liked how the program was run. New Business; Ther e is a new executive or der that r educes the capacity of indoor sports from 50% to 25%. Rec is complying with these regs. We have advertised activi- ties for the winter and will keep groups under 10 people. We are tracking what the Youth & Family Services CIAC is doing with sports (no indoor teams until at least January 19), although the 75 Mohegan Road Rec’s decision is made in collaboration with the Mayor and City Manager. Disc golf is beginning and Cheryl has offered to organize leagues with them. She will reach out again. The meeting adjourned at 6:42pm.
