ROSE CITY SENIOR CENTER 8 Mahan Drive, Norwich, Connecticut 06360 (860) 889-5960 s fax: (860) 885-1160 SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION Meeting of Nov. 17, 2014 Members in Attendance: Chairperson Olive Buddington, Vice Chairperson Gen Bergendahl, and Alternate Members Frank Jacaruso and Jan Stewart. Absent were: Secretary Margaret Aldrich, Regular Members Michael Lahan and Jacquelyn Randall. Attending staff member were Lee-Anne Gomes, Mike Wolak and Anne Barriere. Chairperson Olive Buddington determined there was a quorum and called the meeting to order. Minutes: Michael Lahan was mistakenly marked as present in the October minutes. The minutes from 10-20-14 were approved as corrected. Communications: None. Human Services Report: We did submit the proposed budget to Alan on Friday. No substantial changes noted. There is no movement yet on the vacant Human Services Director position. They have interviewed five candidates and gave them their scores and are now waiting for second interview appointments with the City Manager. Regarding the Community Center Committee Lee-Ann can show anyone who is interested how to apply for that. They have already had their first meeting but if someone still wants to get on they may still be able to. Senior Center Report: Roof replacement is about 75% complete. We have a craft fair here on Wednesday, from 9:00-2:00. There are about 17 different vendors signed up. Dec 16th will be our Senior Holiday Luncheon. Tickets are already on sale. As Lee-Ann mentioned the new budget was submitted already. In addition to regular line items we have added a request for a new bus to replace the older one. Chairperson’s Report/Legislative Report: None. Old Business: Jan read a copy of a letter sent by the Senior Affairs Commissions to Mr. King, Chairman of the Charter Revision Committee of Norwich regarding their request to return the Senior Center to a single department as it was in the beginning. A copy is enclosed. New Business: None Next Meeting: Monday, March 16, 2015 at 9:00 a.m., at the Rose City Senior Center.
