City of Norwich Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Fund Committee Minutes Special Meeting October 18, 2010 The Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Fund Committee held a special meeting on Monday, October 18, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. in room 209, City Hall, Norwich, Connecticut 1. Roll Call a. Members Present: Richard Benoit, Taftville Joseph Kochanski, Laurel Hill Red McKeon, Occum/Past Chairman Thomas Quinley, Yantic Donald Leary, East Great Plain Karen Mankowski, Occum Brigid Marks, City of Norwich Personnel Manager Joshua Pothier, Assistant Comptroller Frank Davis, Citizen Appointee b. Members Absent: Joseph Ruffo, Comptroller Brian Curtin, City Treasurer Richard Benoit called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. 2. Minutes: None 3. Treasurer’s Report: None 4. Old Business a. The Injured/Disabled Volunteer Firefighter Policy, Section 4.3.1, was reviewed. b. Mike Driscoll’s (Corporation Council) comments were reviewed and changes accepted with the exception of 90 days – changed to one (1) year. Tom Quinley made a motion to accept the changes, seconded by Frank Davis. Approved. c. Josh Pothier’s summary was reviewed. It was noted that parts needed to be reworded – City Manager and Council Members; clarification for members with greater than 35 years. Tom Quinley made a motion to accept the summary with the changes, seconded by Frank Davis. Approved. d. Injured/Illness Certification for Duty Form was reviewed. Need to change the 40lbs of equipment to 50lbs of equipment. e. Motion was made by Tom Quinley to accept the Certification for Duty and the Ordinance with the changes and move forward, seconded by Don Leary. Approved with Josh Pothier and Brigid Marks abstaining from the vote.  City of Norwich Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Fund Committee Minutes Special Meeting October 18, 2010 A motion was made by Tom Quinley to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Don Leary.
