City of Norwich Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Fund Committee Minutes Special Meeting September 29, 2010 The Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Fund Committee held a special meeting on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. in room 209, City Hall, Norwich, Connecticut 1. Roll Call a. Members Present: Richard Benoit, Taftville Joseph Kochanski, Laurel Hill Red McKeon, Occum/Past Chairman Thomas Quinley, Yantic Donald Leary, East Great Plain Karen Mankowski, Occum Frank Davis, Citizen Appointee b. Members Absent: Joseph Ruffo, Comptroller Brian Curtin, City Treasurer Brigid Marks, City of Norwich Personnel Manager Joshua Pothier, Assistant Comptroller Richard Benoit called the meeting to order at 5:18 p.m. 2. Minutes: Minutes were tabled until next meeting 3. Treasurer’s Report – None 4. New Business a. Update on Public Act Reference number in the Ordinance so that the correct number is reflected in the current revision. b. Joshua Pothier’s comments were reviewed and found acceptable by the Committee – a. discussed direct deposit format – Section 5.1 b. Previous affected sections were: 4.1, 4.2, 8.1.1, 8.1.2 c. Need to change wording in 4.1 to make it clear only members with 35 Years of Service are eligible. c. Section 4.3.1: Brigid Marks – refer to the Policy Form regarding injured/disabled volunteer firefighters. Compose new wording is pending. Brigid Marks is working on the draft form to be reviewed at the next Committee meeting.
