City of Norwich Youth Board Meeting June 3, 2026 Board Members: Present: S. Houston, L. Powell-Owens, B. Burton, H. Graves, P. Marks, K. Hazen, K. Thompson, J. Brown, S. Vesely, Absent: M. Loughren, Student Rep: J. Parker, J. Eddy, J. Colley Also Present: A. Testani, D. Thompson Chairperson J. Brown called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. B. Burton made a motion to accept the minutes for March, seconded by S. Vesely. Approved by all. Old Business: Summer programs registration started on May 28th. We are offering the same programs as last year, Summer Fun Club, Cheer, Baseball, Basketball, Softball, Flag Football, Tennis, Pickleball, Soccer, Swimming Lessons, and Ultimate Frisbee. To date we have 175 registrations. Registration for the summer trips will open around the 20th of June. The five trips scheduled for this summer are Howe Caverns, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, the Sciencenter, Roberson Museum and Water Safari. The assessment of Kurt Beyer came back. The recommendation was to find a new location outside the flood plain for the pool. The inspector did state he said there was no reason for the pool not to open this summer. But a concrete pool has a 50-to-60-year lifespan, while Kurt Beyer was 67 years old. New Business: The Youth Bureau has been asked about offering a Flag Football program separate from the rec program we currently offer. This would be more focused on the fundamentals of the game. More coaching the proper techniques and positions to play. B. Burton stated the Cyclones will be offering Flag Football soon for grades 2 through sixth. A. Testani stated he would need to transfer $750 from the reserve fund to pay for the instructor’s salaries. Burton made a motion to transfer the funds, sconed by P. Marks. Approved by all. Next meeting will be September 2nd at 6:00 PM. Budget: YBD A. Testani provided an update on the budget. All expenditures are on track. B. Burton made a motion to adjourn at 6:35, seconded by J. P. Marks. Approved by all.
