Protection & Welfare Committee Meeting Minutes February 20, 2018 Chairman Rosek called the meeting to order at 7:18 PM. Members Present: Aldermen Rosek, Schmidt and Shaw Staff Present: Mayor Nold, Kitsembel, Buerger, Frye, Gallo, Sullivan, Kelliher, Osborn and Coenen Others Present: Alds. Zwart, Kowieski, Ellis, Miller and Strey and Atty. Riffle 2. Consider/recommend Amending Ordinance §21.18(3)&(4) of the Municipal Code Relating to Ice Fishing Regulated: Kelliher reported the City was notified by the Wisconsin DNR that our current code regarding ice fishing regulations does not comply with Wis. Stats. They asked us to revise our code and staff worked with the DNR and our attorney to modify the language. Basically, the City can regulate ice drilling, cutting, picking or making holes through the ice on our ice skating rinks. Additionally, we identified the locations of the City’s skating rinks. The Committee suggested removing the reference to ice fishing in the code title as well. Motion by Rosek to recommend amending ordinance §21.18(3)&(4) of the Municipal Code relating to ice fishing regulated; second by Shaw. Motion carried 3-0. Motion by Rosek to adjourn; second by Shaw.
