2. Consider/recommend Resolution Granting a New 2018-2019 Reserve “Class B” Intoxicating
Liquor/Fermented Malt Beverage License to SLM, LLC (dba Twisted Fire, 515 E. Wisconsin
Avenue):
Coenen reported the City received an application for a Reserve ($10K) “Class B” Intoxicating
Liquor/Fermented Malt Beverage license from SLM, LLC to sell intoxicating liquor and fermented malt
beverages at a new restaurant named Twisted Fire at 515 E. Wisconsin Avenue. The restaurant will
occupy the building of the former BUCA’s restaurant. There will be seating for 145 and a full-service bar as
shown on the floor plan included in the packet. The applicant meets all Chapter 12 and State licensing
requirements. The owner plans to open on September 25th, however staff recommends granting the
license with a condition that the Clerk not issue the license until the owner confirms the opening date but
not later than October 31st. If the opening does not occur by October 31st the license will not be issued and
the applicant would have to come back to Council for reapproval. The Committee asked about the number
of licenses available and Coenen stated the City currently has six Reserve “Class B” licenses available in
addition to two regular and one reserve licenses on hold. Coenen also noted that as of January 1, 2019 the
City is eligible to receive one Reserve “Class B” license, which will keep the total of available licenses to six
if Council approves the license to SLM, LLC.
Motion by Miller to recommend the resolution granting a new 2018-209 Reserve “Class B” Intoxicating
Liquor/Fermented Malt Beverage License to SLM, LLC with the condition that the Clerk not issue the
license until the owner confirms the opening date but not later than October 31st; second by Shaw. Motion
carried 3-0.
Motion by Rosek to adjourn; second by Miller. Motion carried 3-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM.
