. City of Margaret September 6, 2019 5:10 PM In attendance: Councilman Perry, Councilman Chapman, Councilman Carter, and Mayor Howard Prayer: Mr. Barker Mayor called Special Meeting to order Discussion Council held a Special Meeting to talk about the parking lot for the new city hall. Mayor Howard opened the floor to Mr. Barker. Mr. Barker explained to the Council that the dirt work on the New City Hall bids were: BEC for $9,700.00 minus $5,000.00 which ended up being $9,200.00. And J&K for $7,500.00. Massey Asphalt for $4,500.00. Massey has a bid for the concrete parking lot which would be $86,670.00 with no stripes. Massey also included a bid for asphalt in the amount of $74,600.00 with stripes. McCartney submitted a bid for $161,000.00 for the parking lot with no stripes. Mayor Howard stated that the bid for $161,000.00 is totally out. Councilman Perry thinks that the City should go with asphalt because it’s easier to maneuver and it has strips included. Councilman feels asphalt will have to be sealed and restriped every 3 or 4 years. Councilman Carter is leaning more toward concrete. All of the concrete bids did not include prep dirt cost. Councilman Perry made the Motion to go ahead with the asphalt bid from Massey Asphalt for $74,600.00 plus the $4500.00 for the dirt work. The Motion was seconded by Council Carter. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Barker informed the Council that Charles Pendley is willing to fix the road in front of City Hall which was cut in order to put sewer in. Councilman Chapman made the Motion to adjourn. Councilman Perry seconded the Motion.
