Motion/Second to approve Resolution No. 2026-04 appointing Carl Crabtree to the Board of Aldermen to fill the unexpired term ending April 7, 2026, subject to oath of office. BACKGROUND: Alderwoman Donna Ehlert previously served on the Board of Aldermen. As a result of her resignation ending effective November 25, 2025, a vacancy exists on the Board. City Code provides that vacancies may be filled by appointment until the next election or until a successor is duly elected and qualified. Carl Crabtree expressed interest in serving on the Board of Aldermen and submitted an application. Mr. Crabtree meets the eligibility requirements for appointment. Appointing a replacement will ensure the Board maintains a quorum and continues to function effectively. If appointed, Mr. Crabtree will hold the seat of Alderman Ward II until April 7, 2026, Municipal General Election is conducted. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS: None ATTACHMENTS: Resolution No. 2026-03; Resolution No. 2026-04; Board Application PREPARED BY: ______ DATED: January 26, 2026 Karen Findora, City Clerk  RESOLUTION NO. 2026-03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ODESSA, MISSOURI, DECLARING THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN WARD II SEAT PREVIOUSLY HELD BY ALDERWOMAN DONNA EHLERT VACANT EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 25, 2025 WHEREAS, Alderwoman Donna Ehlert was duly elected to serve as a member of the Board of Aldermen for the City of Odessa, Missouri, and WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen has been notified that Alderwoman Ehlert no longer holds said office due to resignation or other lawful cause; and WHEREAS, pursuant to applicable state law and the Code of Ordinances of the City of Odessa, a vacancy exists when an alderman or alderwoman is no longer able to serve in office; and WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Board of Aldermen to formally declare the seat vacant in order to proceed with the appointment or election of a successor in accordance with law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF ODESSA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Board of Aldermen hereby declares the Board of Aldermen seat previously held by Alderwoman Donna Ehlert to be vacant effective November 25, 2025. SECTION 2. This vacancy shall be filled in accordance with applicable provisions of Missouri law and the Code of Ordinances of the City of Odessa. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its adoption. Barner, Mayor ________________________________ Karen Findora, City Clerk  RESOLUTION NO. 2026-04 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ODESSA, MISSOURI, APPOINTING CARL CRABTREE TO THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN, WARD (2), TWO, OF THE CITY OF ODESSA, MISSOURI, TO SERVE UNTIL THE NEXT MUNICIPAL ELECTION WHEREAS, a vacancy exists on the Board of Aldermen for Ward (2) Two of the City of Odessa, Missouri; and WHEREAS, the City Code and applicable Missouri law authorize the Board of Aldermen to appoint a qualified individual to fill such vacancy until the next regular municipal election; and WHEREAS, Carl Crabtree is a qualified resident of the City of Odessa, Missouri, and has expressed willingness to serve; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF ODESSA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Carl Crabtree is hereby appointed to serve as Alderman Ward (2) Two for the City of Odessa, Missouri. SECTION 2.
