Minutes Beach Nourishment Committee Meeting October 15, 2024 Meeting called to order by Sandy Boyer 6:30 P.M. at Fire House Attendees: Sandy Boyer, Bruce Boyer, John Lawicki, Peter Mavrelis, Paul Panther, Al Halline , David Snyder, Michele Bonneau, Scott Kingan Minutes of the Sept 17th meeting were approved. REPORTS: Reconciliation: Scott No change from last month. Final settlement will come after mitigation is settled. Litigation: Scott The Brack case: no new information OD vs USACE and NPS: mitigation will probably be waved if maintenance for the revetment is provided. Sand dredging of Burns Ditch will begin this month and hopefully sand will flow to Portage and Ogden dunes beach. Currently sand will be deposited 300 feet off shore. Fund Raising: Sandy Sandy proposed a chili contest to raise money for accessway beach preservation. It was moved and seconded to explore a winter date for the event. CONSTRUCTION: Bruce and Scott Much discussion regarding the shore preservation project with funding and the bidding process was discussed. Our engineer will update the costs of the project. Each homeowner on the north side of shore drive in the middle section will be informed of the costs estimates to place shore protection in front of their property. It is estimated that 15 out of 33 homeowners will participate. All the work will be done from the beach using accessway 18 for truck access. Measures to avoid any damage to adjacent homeowners will be insured. It was moved and seconded to approve to have the monies flow through a title company as a way to insure the safety of the funds for distribution to the contractor as well as to speed the bidding process. After completion of the project , the title company will “donate in kind” the total project to the Town of Ogden Dunes. This will enable the town to issue a letter to those homeowners who contributed that their contribution to the project should be considered tax deductible.
