Water Board Meeting

Ogden Dunes Water Board Meeting Minutes Summary Date of meeting: March 5, 2024. Location: Town Hall. In attendance: Jim Slawinski, Tom Cleland, Dave Snyder, Matt Moore, and Julia Klingensmith. The following is a summary of notations made during the meeting: 1. Appoint minute taker: Tom Cleland appointed himself to take notes for minutes at this meeting. 2. Approve minutes from January 2024 meeting: Motion was made by Jim Slawinski to approve; motion seconded by Tom Cleland. 3. Reviewed the February 2024 fund report with JK. 4. 4th quarter water/sanitation update: There was only 1 water shutoff conducted at this time. Sanitation rates will go up based on the contract increase per the disposal carrier. 5.The new 2024 minimum water/sanitation bill will increase by approximately $2.58/ month or $7.74/quarter. 6. Discussion was held regarding cross training between board members, MM, and JK to begin cross training of Zenner software use and MM providing Meter programming of which MM has already been doing so with his field crew. 7. Water board member replacement; The Town Council is still under review with candidates. 8. Late water/sanitation payment incentive: The board has suggested to push the ‘autopay’ plan and thereby would possibly waive any late fees attached. 9. IAWC rate increase: ODWW has been notified of an upcoming water rate increase; awaiting a final percentage increase from IAWC. 10. No further action has been conducted with the ongoing Indiana 811 billing issues for past billing amounts not in our territory. 11. Official building name and signage: TC issued a ‘rough’ sketch of a future exterior sign that would be placed in the landscape area. The building name will remain as Ogden Dunes Waterworks booster pump station. 12. Phase 2 building update: the building exterior improvements are completed a of January 2024. 13. Phaes 3 landscaping: Vega’s Landscaping is currently performing some hardscape work as weather permits. Plants, bushes, etc. will arive once the weather begins to warm up. 14. Pump throttle motor: this motor is currently with South Side Control to be rebuilt and then reinstalled . 15. Zenner software/ payment update: no current response from Bob Gillespie on either front at this time; awaiting his response. 16. Pump station interior upgrades: all interior patching and painting touch up work has been completed in the month of February ‘24 by Street department field crew. Nice job by the crew. 17. Water main shutoff valve repairs: as of 3/5/2024, MM is down to 1 road valve/box that needs to be addressed in warmer weather. 18. No resident remarks at this meeting. 19. Closing remarks: DS has requested that the water board revisit a quote from Utility Services to provide electronic daily reading of pump house meter readings. A second request by DS was made to consider purchase of a new pickup truck for the Streets and Water divisions via the water department. The board will make considerations on this. 20. Next water board meeting is April 8, 2024 at 4:00 PM.
