Ogden Dunes Water Board Meeting Minutes
Monday, August 11th, 2025 at 4:30 PM
Location: Town Hall
Present: Jim Slawinski (JS) Tom Cleland (TC) Leslie Tyburski (LT) Dave Snyder (DS)
Mike Lanovich (ML) Absent: Julia Klingensmith (JK)
• The August 2025 Water Board Meeting started @ 4:30 PM with JS taking minutes.
• The July 2025 Water Board Meeting Minutes were unanimously approved by the Water Board Directors.
• JS reviewed the Water Department Fund Report which reflected YTD and not just the end of July
• JS reported on the different options for help with Lake Water Testing in 2026. He has been in contact with
both Tom Davenport from the Environmental Committee as well as Carson Costanza who has been doing
water sampling for almost ten years.
• There were approximately 40 late water/sanitation notices sent out which is somewhat lower than the
historical average. Red tag day is scheduled for August 19th with the shutoff date of August 21st
• There have been very few responses to the Lead Compliance letter recently sent out to all OD Residents,
possibly because the letter stated that there is no lead piping anywhere in Ogden Dunes.
• ML reported that M.E. Simpson is in the process of finalizing their report and it should be available for the
Water Department Review within the week.
• ML is waiting on a quote from M.E. Simpson involving a frozen Gate Valve discovered during a recent
inspection.
• JS reported that the Water Board Directors will consider shifting money from the Operating Fund to the
Capital Fund or purchasing an additional CD, but in both cases wait until the final bill with M.E. Simpson is
settled.
• The group reviewed the list of residents who have not responded to multiple backflow testing letters. TC will
draft a final reminder along with a potential water shutoff date and once reviewed and finalized by all Water
Board Directors the letter will be mailed out to all residents who have not yet responded. DS mentioned
that a previous backflow letter talked about a backflow request involving swimming pools. JS displayed the
most recent 2025 letter where there was no mention of a backflow requirement involving swimming pools.
DS mentioned that it may have been an old letter from the previous Water Board Group.
• With the help of the President of Zenner we now have an abundance of spare encoders. JS instructed ML
that once we have four defective units of any kind to make the necessary arrangements to promptly ship
them back to Zenner.
• We recently received a new 1” meter for a new meter/pit installation at Krates Field.
• ML and LT gave an update on the Pump House Ground Lighting with installation to start this week.
• ML and his group will keep up with Pump House Indoor Housekeeping as well as Outdoor Weed Control.
• ML reported that he has multiple bags of wood chips available for possible application once the Pump
House Ground Lighting is installed.
• TC will monitor the availability and practicality of a dehumidifier for the Pump House although there does
not appear to be a major issue with humidity within the building at this time.
• JSS reported on his response to 811 Management regarding the current OD Mapping. 811 Management was
recently provided with a listing of streets in OD, and the water department will continue to pay both 811
and USIC for work done within town limits.
• The Directors will continue to monitor the Water Department Master Plan for any completions and/or
additions.
• DS mentioned how the sanitation budget was operating with little money left in the budget while the Street
Department was operating in the red. JS Mentioned that the Budget Committee along with BakerTilly was in
the final stages of approving a user fee increase which should help both budgets.
• DS suggested once again that the group should consider having a commercial vacuum truck company be
awarded a contract to come out and vacuum out all the dry wells in OD. He requested ML to get quotes
from multiple contractors. JS mentioned that from his experience at US Steel in the Purchasing Department
a project like this would be extremely expensive and by no means would the Ogden Dunes Water
Department be paying for it.
• Ther were no residents either present or on Zoom
The meeting concluded at 5:20 PM with the next Water Board Meeting scheduled for Monday,
September 8th @ 4:30 PM at the Town Hall
