Ms. Lovell motioned to approve the minutes from April6, 2017. Ms. Havas seconded. Committee approved OPENING CEREMONY Ms Olsen mtroduced Austm Smgley, he IS our Grmch at our openmg ceremony Mr Smgley thanked everyone for allowmg him to come to the meetmg He explamed that he loves the VIllage and our ceremony, and has some tdeas on how to make It more engaging for the audience He has some stage settmgs that he Will leave on stage durmg the VIllage l-Ie passed around pictures of the settmgs l-Ie would like to make the openmg ceremony more of a production With characters and theatncs He would like to have the Gnnch repel down from the cetlmg to make his entrance or zip lme 111 to the amphitheater Mr Willtamson's btggcst concern ts the stage settmg He wtll work wtth Mr Smgley to see tf thetr props will work on our stage and the entertamment groups Mr Terrazas liked the tdca of havmg the Gnnch drop f1 om the cetlmg He also suggested puttmg up crowd control aftci the ceremony and lettmg the k1ds lme up for a photo on stage He also MINUTES OF TilE REGULA I~ MEETING OF TilE CIIRIS J"MAS VILLAGE ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF OGDEN, UT MAY 2, 2017 PAGE 2 OF 3 suggested havmg the Gnnch come on the mght we have the remdeer and do111g another photo op Ms Olsen will email the scnpt and a hst of the Items we need to cover 111 the scnpt to Mr Smgley He will work on a new scnpt and present It at the next meet111g The committee suggested only reserv111g I 0 seats for the Make a W1sh child's family and none for the admmistration, council and commissioners They would hke to let the community come get warm by the heaters and be able to Sit for the ceremony Ms Olsen said she would discuss this w1th management and see If It IS an option OPEN POSITION Ms Olsen said that Mr Paskms has resigned from the committee Ms Wilson asked If anyone has any recommendatiOns for a replacement Ms Olsen stated that we can appomt Ms Mazza our new sub committee member, or we can try to recrUit another new person, smce we need all the help we can get The committee d1d not have any recommendatiOns at this time ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULING Ms Wilson stated that Mr Pask111s was headmg up our push to get the schools mvolved and mv1te them to come perform on our stage She asked If anyone IS wiiimg to take this JOb Ms Lovell said Nicole Lovell could dehver a letter to the Ogden School D1stnct, we need to find someone that has access to the Pony for the Weber School D1stnct Ms Ka1mgak1 and Ms Lovell will prepare a letter to send out Mr. Williamson stated that last year he used Doodle to schedule the enterta111ment, he IS Iook111g for a different program to use this year SWEATSHIRT DESIGN Ms Wilson said that Matt IS workmg on the designs As soon as she gets them, she will send them out to the committee This year's theme IS '·Let's Get Crack'n" Ms Kam1gak1 asked If we could offer long sleeve t-sh1rts to the council this year and not g1ve them sweatshirts Ms Olsen said she would talk to Mr Lowder and see If he IS available to come to a committee meetmg to discuss these Ideas STORE The committee decided to keep the current operat111g hours of the store Mr Terrazas will turn the store, so the open111g IS 111 a NE direction Ms Lovell said It would be 111ce to get more areas to display Items Mr Terrazas said he would look at the store and optiOns for creatmg better displays BREAKFAST WITH SANTA Ms Ka1mgak1 and Ms Lovell have requested b1ds from the Ben Lomond Hotel, Umon StatiOn and the Ogden Conference Center December 9th IS the date set for Breakfast with Santa Carolyn Bnerly and her husband have agreed to be Mr and Mrs Claus at the breakfast The committee said It would be fun to have the Gnnch there as well Ms Lovell said that a woman named N1kk1 IS go111g to get the elves, schedule and tram them She also stated that we need a large1 screen for the video MINUTES OF TilE REGULAR MEETING OF TilE CIIRIS"I MAS VILLAGE ADVISORY COMMrl TEE OF OGDEN, UT MAY 2, 2017 PACE 3 OF 3 OPEN DISCUSSION • Ms Lovell suggested havmg the owner of the Dally Gnnd as Honorary Mayor for 2018 The committee felt that was a great Idea • Mr Williamson reported that the Breakfast Exchange Club IS havmg power 1ssues Mr Terrazas explamed that they have upgraded their hot chocolate machmes and they are drawmg to much amps so they are poppmg the breakers Mr Terrazas said to fix the problem we would need to bnng 111 a new power lme w1th a new transformer We have no more power at the VIllage to g1ve them Last year they rented a generator, they may have to do that agam th1s year • Mr B1e1Ik reported that the Hospital Cottage IS commg along mcely NEXT MEETING The next meetmg for the Chnstmas VIllage Advisory Committee IS Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 4:00pm The meetmg locatiOn IS the Ogden Public Works Bulldmg, 133 West 29th Street ADJOURNMENT W1th no further busmess to d1scuss, Ms. Bielik motioned to adjourn, motion seconded by Ms. Kamigaki.
