Wicks (arrived at 5:39 p.m.) Board Administrator Bill Cook Deputy Administrator Janene Eller-Smith Board Policy Analyst Glenn Symes Communications Manager Amy Sue Mabey Also present: Chief Administrative Officer Mark Johnson City Attorney Gary Williams Public Services Director Jay Lowder Planning Manager Greg Montgomery Community and Economic Development Deputy Manager Brandon Cooper Deputy Recorder Julia LaSeure The purpose of the Joint Study Session was to review agenda items for the Special City Council and Regular Redevelopment Agency Meetings, which began at 6:00 p.m., and discuss Board and Council Business. Special City Council Agenda Review Council Executive Director Cook and other members of Council staff briefly reviewed the items listed on the special City Council meeting agenda. Regular Redevelopment Agency Agenda Review Board Administrator Cook and other members of Board staff briefly reviewed the items listed on the regular Redevelopment Agency meeting agenda. Council Business Communications Update: Communications Manager Mabey showed a PowerPoint presentation reviewing the ongoing communications efforts. She reported on the College Town initiative, noting the Abernathy Award application has been accepted and the City and Weber State University will receive notification of the award soon. She mentioned changes to the Council’s social media following as well as recent communication efforts, including recognitions, the Council staff photo project, and the City’s branding request for proposal. She reviewed photographs taken at recent events in which Council members have participated. She stated upcoming efforts include the Mayor’s Walk, more recognitions, and budget communications. Mr. Cook recognized Ms. Mabey for her hard work on preparing the Abernathy Award application. Chair Hyer suggested that Council members be given some training regarding tools they can use to assist in boosting the Council’s social media following. Council member Wicks stated she would be willing to share some tools she has used or observed other entities using. Ms. Mabey stated she would compile that data and provide it to all Council members. Mr. Cook noted the Weber Speaks program will host the Weber Showcase event on Thursday. He explained 24 communications classes have chosen their best speakers which will be narrowed down to five. Those five will be presented at the Showcase. He stated he has had the privilege of judging the competition and commented that the Council will likely hear from some of those speakers at future Weber Speaks events. Council Calendar: Mr. Cook reviewed the items listed on agendas for future Council meetings. Council member Wicks noted a birthday celebration for the Ogden Nature Center will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 and she invited all to attend. Utah League of Cities and Towns: Council member Gochnour stated that Ogden City was well represented at the Utah League of Cities and Towns Spring Conference held last week in St. George.
