2 Art Grant Fundmg RecommendatiOns - All
a Lone explamed the breakdown of the votmg process done last week She mentioned the
two that were mehg1ble for fundmg accordmg to grant gutdelmes
b Everyone had d1ffenng opm1ons on the top1c on -how the fundmg should be spht Smce
there was no agreement a small group will meet wtth Lone m her office The meetmg
Will be May 9 at 12 noon
c It was mentioned that $90k 1s available to spht to each orgamzat1on 40% to General
Support, 60% to ProJect Support
3 F1rst Fnday Art Stroll Update- All
a Stroll was slower and empty compared to other t1mes, even though the weather was good.
b Office Evolution had qu1te a bit of visitors as well as about 250 voters for the street art
proJect
c Van SessiOns at the plaza had mus1c but not a large crowd The p1ano and guitar player
played amazmg and had a B11ly Joel v1be to them
d Platforms and Weber Center had a small crowd
e A recommendatiOn was a punch card where strollers could get a discount at certam
restaurants 1fthey stopped by art exh1b1ts
f InformatiOn about the Art Stroll should be sent out to publicatiOns, soc1al med1a etc m
Salt Lake C1ty It would draw a larger crowd and brmg people up to see what IS
happenmg m Ogden
g Another recommendation was to see 1f any restaurants or shops would be w1lhng to stay
open 1- 2 hours longer for an "after stroll expenence " Art could be d1splayed or hve
mus1c g1ve people a d1fferent expenence Lone will d1scuss w1th K1m (ODA) and
downtown restaurants
4 Comm1ttee Blog- Ten/Russ
a Russ mentiOned that 1t IS hard to get published However, he would be w1llmg to start
domg short hve streams to reach a larger aud1ence It will be on Facebook, Instagram and
Tw1tter
b Scott and Lone have been m contact w1th Brandon Erlacher from the Standard Ten w1ll
be mcluded m a meetmg that IS yet to be set, but IS m the works
5 Pubhc Art - Crosswalks - Lone/Scott
a Pamted Street Crosswalk votmg has started w1th about 250 votes at the Art Stroll m
Office EvolutiOn
b There are three des1gns m both category's to choose from
c The votmg will take place the rest ofth1s week at the Weber County hbrary on Jefferson
Everyone IS strongly encouraged to vote and bnng awareness to others by soc1al media
6 Arts on the Town- Lone
a Everyone felt the event was fun and went well
b Last year's v1deo was perfect because 1t was more engagmg then the shdeshow that was
used th1s year The v1deo locatiOn would be better smted at the entrance then everyone
would watch 1t, then contmue 111 and soc1ahze
c As for the speakers, some felt that five people talkmg throughout the mght would be good
rather than all of the grantees Next year we w11l choose a couple of grantees to h1ghhght,
and then rotate through them each year
7 Vote for New Committee Members- Lone
a Kase and Sandy has stepped down due Wes and Brandl will be fimshed w1th the1r
second terms m July of tillS year and all four of them will be dearly m1ssed'
b A recommendatiOn was to have an unoffic1al cha1r for Arts & EducatiOn or a non-profit
at-large pos1t1on
c Everyone had a ballot to vote and turned 1t m

9 Annual Report-
a The annual report IS past due everyone needs to turn mall their mformat10n ASAP
b The Arts Advisory Committee annual report IS due m June If you hold a particular seat,
please focus on that area of the arts for the past year If you are an at-large member, JUSt
wnte about notable events or happenmgs that you expenenced or want to h1ghhght to the
C1ty Council
c This IS how we keep fundmg for the arts Your section does not need to be long, but your
voice IS very Important The more and better we report, the more chances of mcreased
fundmg we have
10 Mountam West Arts conference- Lone
a Th1s year's conference w1ll be held on May 1Qth at the Utah Cultural CelebratiOn Center
m West Valley The event IS sold out Lone and M1ke Palumbo are attendmg this year
11 Comm1ttee news and updates-
a Brandz- The Fly with the Flock fun run IS th1s weekend at the Nature Center They are
hopmg for good weather for the event
b Jake- The next Arts & Act1on senes 1s May 31, 2018 at 6 p m , free to the pubhc at the
WSU K1mball Arts Bmldmg on the third floor Molly Monn who IS an assistant professor
at Weber State Umvers1ty w1ll be a featured guest There w1ll be an open house ofvtrtual
reality pamtmg booths, emergmg technology and fun mteract1on 1deas
c Scott- Office Evolution programmg done unt1l September He IS workmg w1th the Weber
Center, PANES, and Platforms at this t1me
d Russ- He has a new HQ butldmg now for Uncon at 2254 Washmgton Ave They w1ll
have wmdow displays for cos players to have thetr work up He IS gettmg ready to JOin the
art stroll
e Wes- Free Day at Treehouse IS Saturday June 16 They w1ll have a comic book art fest,
July 14 will be a western theme event with mteractive play and blue grass music Then m
August a back to school event that attracts about 6-7k people
f Debra- Eccles Plem A1r comp IS May 22-27 Traces of the West IS pamtmg cowboy
boots
g Ahc1a- Good Company Theatre (GCT) 1s teammg up w1th the Boys & Girls Club
Classes w1ll taught by Ahc1a after school and for the rest of the year "Amencan ld1of'
will be the August Show at the Amphitheater Ahc1a has a youth show she IS d1rectmg
that will open th1s weekend, Cheerleaders vs Alzens, at the Park C1ty Egyptian Theatre
Cmema 502 IS startmg to get back on the scene They have some shows playmg durmg
the week and are rentmg out space for events Help spread the news to support them
h Mzke -The Royal Damsh Ballet performance With Imagme Ballet w1ll be June 16 at
Perry's
Brandon- Will be startmg Nme Ra1ls podcasts L1terally and Van sessiOn podcast are
ava1lable on !tunes and Spotify Kase w1ll be mterviewmg a novehst who has wntten a
mystery that will be featured on an upcommg podcast
J Lorze- The Ogden Arts Festival Is commg up the 91h and 101h of June The next art stroll
w1ll have a car show, film fest, and OFOAM's music fest Tw1hght Concert senes IS
startmg June 7 contmumg on unt1l August Monday mght mov1es are commg up, and
tunes at noon will be on Wednesdays
