• Per Lone we need one person from the Arts Commtttee to attend the Dtverstty
Commtttee meetmgs on the first Wednesday of each month at 1 p m Shane Osguthorpe
offered to attend the meetmgs
• Ftrst Fnday Art Stroll Update- all
• Cam attended the Monarch, Argo House and the Btke Homecommg and satd everythmg
was good and busy
• Scott satd there was steady traffic at the Argo House, the Monarch and Van SessiOns had
a decent crowd Per Todd more people showed up than expected
• Mtke satd he showed up to Eccles, Argo, MonarchNan SessiOns, 25 1h Street and UnCon
gallery and that everythmg was well attended
• DaVmct Academy wtll be open durmg the school year and closed for the summer No
word yet on how well thetr attendance was for the Art Stroll
• Btke Homecommg had a great turnout for the btke nde, about ISO parttctpants The
dance doubled m stze wtth about 75 people commg There were a couple arttcles m the
Standard-Exam mer talkmg about the event and photos posted
• Committee Blog- Lone
• Two blog posts have been received already and sent to Mark Saal at the Standard-
Exam mer
• Lone sent M1ke Palumbo's blog post to Scott Patna to add to 0 I Arts newsletter
• We are still wa1tmg on Nme Ralls to complete their s1te so blog posts can be added
• Pub he Art- InformatiOn statements to choose optiOns to move forward - Lone
• C1ty Council wants an art p1ece for the th1rd floor (stairwell, wmdows, wall etc )
• We need to push the wrappmg of ut1hty boxes m the creative and histone d1stncts so they
are complete by May 2019
• Come up w1th a p1ece for downtown Weber State that can be done They have $1 Ok to
put towards the proJect
• Commumcate w1th the D1vers1ty Committee and see 1f there IS a collaboratiOn that can be
done for an art p1ece m the city (ex MLK & Cesar Chavez Streets)
• B1ke Homecommg follow-up- Lone
• There were about 150 on the nde and 75 people who came to the dance
• The pncmg was better th1s year and drew more people to the event
• The food trucks, photos and dancmg was enclosed to the mam entrance of the
amphitheater wh1ch made 1t feel mt1mate
• Next year there will be a kmg and queen to crown
• Arts Grants - Fmal approval on October 16111 - Lone
• Lone attended the work sessiOn where she presented the grant mformatwn
• October 16 IS the official meetmg for the pub he approval
• Lone let grantees know about the meetmg so they can attend and say thank you
• Mayor A wards m the Arts - Lone
• Most committee members voted for the awards
• Lone named all the wmners m each category and everyone was on board w1th the
exception of one category
• It was decided that an mdiVIdual & group will wm this year for the L1fet1me Contnbutton
& Performmg Arts Awards
• A total of 10 wmners will be awarded on Nov 1 at Umon Statwn m the Brownmg Center
from 6-8 p m
• Lone will resend the Arts m the EducatiOn ballot to all members for a revote
• Eccles 125 111 CelebratiOn follow-up - Lone
• Lone was part of the entertamment portion of the event and sa1d 1t went well Everyone
seemed to enJOY the performances
• DeJa sa1d there was a lot of energy It was good to have the Art m Bloom sttll gomg on
because 1t brought more people to see the work The Ballet Folklonco was amazmg w1th
how then performance and the background architecture contrasted together
• The drummers d1d a great job The celebratiOn had a w1de range of diversity throughout
A fun and happy expenence had by many

• They had the basketball court dedtcatton a month ago at Ltberty Park for Wataru Mtsaka
There were about 300 people who showed up to see the resurfaced basketball court,
plaque destgn ,
• The commtttee hopes to brmg pubhc art to the forefront of Ogden and to partner more
wtth the arts

• Scott- The Argo House was open for the first Fnday Art Stroll Weber County wtll be
off the stroll ttl January The mural dedtcatlon ts Sat ~eptember 22 for all to see wtth a
small receptton On October 5·, Platforms will have the butterfly exhtbttlon for the art
stroll Jane Ktm wtll be gomg to Weber to contmue the migratmg mural He mentioned
that they wtll no longer be teanng up 25th Street because they went under the street

They are already workmg on the planmng for the Yett Bash The album with Carry
Meyers has wrapped up and should be out soon
• Cam - The Argo House ts open and they are lookmg for five more creattve tenants

• Susan- Next Ensemble wtll start up on September 21& 22nd They wtll be at Alleged on
Fnday mght then on Saturday tt will be a famtly verston at Umon Gnll, kids are free
Then afterwards tt's Harvest Moon ,
• Add-m- Taylor- He menttoned that at Perry's Theater they wtll have an Elvis show
There wtll be stx costumes from Elvts that are repltcas/ actual costumes used
• Deja- The Chtldren 's Dance Theater performance from the Umverstty of Utah and the
satell1te program at Eccles Art Center ts on Fnday September 21 School shows wtll be m
the mommg and a general performance m the evenmg at Weber State Umverstty She
wtll be drummmg at the Huntsville marathon At the next Ftrst Fnday Art Stroll she wtll
be helpmg Imagme Ballet then Ballet X ts on October 6
• Russ- Ogden UnCon announced btg guests recently He said he was surpnsed at how
antt-androtd people are towards Sophta He menttoned that he has a comtc book arttst
who worked on Teenage Mutant NmJa Turtles ts wtlhng to pamt on a butldmg rather than

• Mzchael- On the 29th Chamber Orchestra Ogden wtll perform Beethoven's 9th Symphony
at Peery's Egypttan Theater wtth solmsts, the Weber State Umverstty Concert Ch01r, and
the Weber State Umverstty Alumm Chotr He ts gomg to Ball State Umverstty to conduct
on thetr concert gala September 21 where he wtll be awarded the Outstandmg Alumnus
Award
• Todd- Arts m the park worked wtth Weber State Umverstty at the Farmer's Market last
week They are workmg on actlvtttes wtth butterflies to comctde wtth the mural at the
Monarch They are sendmg people to dtfferent events mcludmg Harvest Moon and to use
buttertltes for Platforms The Shaw Gallery will start to show the faculty art work thts
Fnday at 7 p m Then on October 12, Jane Ktm will be at Weber State (exhtbtts are free)
• Brandon - Van Sesstons was fantasttc at the Monarch and keeps gettmg better They are
set up to do podcasts wtth Jane Ktm Thetr thtrd eptsode ts up and everyone should hsten
to podcasts Van Sesstons released tt last mght Most ofthetr slots are filled for podcasts
but they have a few openmgs that need to be filled
• Lorle- Menttoned that Lmn Goodwm has two ttckets avatlable for the gala set for the
Treehouse thts Fnday, at the Conference Center Ryan Shupe ts the entertamment wtth
dmner served to everyone
