MEETING MINUTES Ogden City Arts Advisory Committee Regular Meeting 2549 Washington Blvd. Room 310 Ogden, UT 84401 801-629-8718 In Attendance: Jake McIntire, Jan Hamer, Susan Campbell, Cam McLeod, Shane Osguthorpe, Franco Cirilo, Todd Oberndorfer, Jessica McCowin, Camille Washington Excused: Absent: Brandon Long, Scott Patria Staff Present: Regina Esparza, Christy McBride, Derek Williamson, Beth Bell Tuesday, September 14, 2021 –8:30 A.M. Virtual Zoom Meeting • Welcome and Call to Order – Susan Campbell • Approval of August minutes. Motion to approve – Shane, Todd • Subcommittee Update – Susan Campbell • Susan showed the results of the survey she sent out. She wants to meet with Christy and Lorie to have a better communication flow with Ogden ACE and OCAAC. • Susan also let everyone know about what she’d like to see happen for the subcommittees. She will work on an agenda to be used as a starting point and have monthly mtgs to update as needed. • Diversity Chair and the OCAAC could have a stronger community engagement. • The OCAAC can also be other committees mtgs to better engage such as the ODA mtgs. • Events– Regina Esparza • Mayor Awards nominations were tallied. Regina sent an email to everyone with the nominations and the top three were named. The committee voted to have all three honorees recognized for 2021 including the 2020 honorees at the ceremony in November. • First Friday Art Stroll was well attended. Next Ensemble was at Platforms, The Monarch had good attendance along with Eccles Art Center. • Public Art – Jake McIntire • Arts Grants update: Everyone has received their first round of checks. • BRT Art: Jake and Christy went over items regarding the presentation that was presented. The glass panels and budgets were discussed. The stipend amount went from $1500 to $5k to receive better quality artwork. This is a long-term project to last 15-20 years. It was said that the amount has Ramp funding incorporation hoping that amount will be funded in a grant. If not, there was a motion to incumber art funds. Everyone liked the idea of asking for the full glass  piece rather than a partial. Everyone was in favor of having the art sub-committee and Ogden Ace make the final decisions for the RFQ. • Dumke Plaza: The opening is planned for Nov 5, regardless of completion with Shakia Booke exhibit on display. Small VIP event from 5-6 p.m. at OCA. Then ribbon cutting from 6- 6:30 p.m. • Corner Plaza: Hogan will begin construction in April. There are 90% of drawings done. The bubble sculpture has smaller spacing, and the surface area is playground safe. • Brainstorm –– Everyone • Shane said that Visit Ogden has an outdoor art trail that included Hot Deals to use from your phone. It’s a way to encourage people to get out into the community. • Committee News and upcoming events • Brandon – absent • Franco – N/A • Scott – absent • Camille – Good Company Theater has their first show, Fremont Junior High. If anyone wants to go, there are (2) tickets for Thursday and Friday for any of the advisory members interested in going. It runs from the 16th-23rd and tickets are $25. Ballet West will be at the Browning Theater at Union Station for Beer& Ballet. Tickets are $50, it is on October 9th at 6:30 p.m. • Jan – There was two hours of poetry reading at OFOAM, it was exciting to see people come out. • Susan – N/A • Todd – At the art s troll with Van sessions, a new exhibit at OCA, Shaw Gallery has their facility show and the library has an artist show at WSU Library. • Cam – Finalizing the DonRimx video hopefully it will be out next week, working on a plaque for the mural site and QR code to see photos and videos. • Jess – N/A • Shane – Visit Ogden made a tourism video on YouTube for everyone to check out. • Christy – The Browning Theater has new sound and lighting for events.
